Upon hearing Trixie's words, Moon offered her a thankful and apologizing look, accompanied by a slight nod of his head as he heard her second statement. "Thank you Trixie, and don't worry, I remember." He says, before looking to Forte, giving him a wave of his head in a gesture to follow as he trotted a bit further into the cave, so they could have at least some privacy. On the way, he picked up the battered book, it's state something he felt a small sting of sadness over, curiously opening it and eyeing through it as he stopped near the far end of the cavern. Going through his mind as he did, along many other things, was also the realization that being the de facto camp doctor was a busy job. He had of course always "known" he had been busy, but it was only now, with his fiancée returned and a somepony he hadn't seen in a long coming to the camp, that he realized that his role was a busy one.
Coming to terms with this thought, he looked up at Forte, gesturing for him to start talking. "Alright, speak then." He said quietly. his thoughts returning to the matter at hoof.

Forte followed Moon quietly, eyeing the other ponies in the room. "I need that book." Forte said simply, once they were out of earshot. "Moxie is in on it, and Aegis is too. He overheard me and Moxie talking about it... But that's besides the point." He looked up into Moon's eyes. "This is happening. We are finding the paints. It's not just an idea anymore, and it's not just me sneaking about. I wish it were still, so that I would be the only one in danger, but I'm not. Moxie is determined. We believe we know where the paints are, but I want to be sure." Forte's face softened as he took a step closer to Moon. "I know you'd rather not be a part of this. I wish you hadn't seen me either. But things are in motion and I intend to see them through, no matter what." He held out a hoof, trying to make the action seem as friendly as possible. "And I could really use your help. Moxie could use your help."

[Posting to let Moon know what is inside the book he got from Tara]
The first thing Moon would be able to notice was that it wasn't just a book. More a compilation of hundrets of notes, torn pages from other books and shreds of paper. All looked different in age, origin and sometimes even language but nearly all of them had one special feature. Somepony had written comments and hints over the texts and sentences, claiming that some facts were wrong while others were "field tested" already, whatever that meant. It looked kinda crude, the writing over the printed words but it seemed to make sense. Sometimes there was something drawn as well. In paragraphs about plants, there was always a little black sketch next to them, showing how said plant looked if encountered in the wild.
The next thing Moon could notice was that all the information seemed to be centered around healing, saving lifes and even poisons and antidotes. So it wasn't just a random compilation of knowledge, but rather an archive for lesser known facts about healing, the effects of several wild plants on ponies and other species and how to treat ponies that have been poisoned by artificial or natural poison. On the backside of the book's cover would be a little note that stuck out from the other ones, mainly because it looked the oldest and was written with a red pen instead of a black one. The writing was hard to make out but if Moon really tried he could read the words "To: Moonlight Scroll. This book holds all information that a doctor like you might need at some point. From deadly plants in the jungle to treating every sickness with normal plants on the roads. I hope you find use in it."

Moon had quickly looked through the book to get a sense of what it was, and while the librarian within him could not help wincing at the slaughter of older literature that had gone into making this book, when he realized what it was, he knew this to be something of great value, at least to him and everypony here that wanted to know more about healing. Any literature of this kind was a godsend, and he made a mental note to sincerely thank the earth pony for when they would meet again.
As he however listened to Forte, his mood turned much more sombre, his ears falling slightly with worry and a slight feeling of betrayal. He hadn't listened he realized... In spite of his warnings, of his promise of fixing this without having to go behind somepony's back, Forte still was going to do it... He must have been foolish to think his words should have made a difference. "Forte..." He said, staring down at the hoof that was offered him for a few moments before he shook his head and looked up, slight anger, but mostly sadness and disappointment in his eyes. "...Why do you ask me again to betray one friend over another? I... I thought I made that clear. I won't betray Genesee. A-And, don't you get it? This conflict won't just be solved with some paint! Stealing paint won't make things better between Genesee and Moxie!" He said this with a huff, and upon realizing that he was getting a bit louder, he paused here, taking a deep breath. "... No Forte. I won't help you with this... Not like this. And besides, I don't have it anymore."

Forte stared at Moon. The gears in his head grinding as he desperately tried to think of a way to get Moon on his side, to get him to see that this is right... He closed his eyes, realizing he couldn't. If he was being completely honest with himself, Moon's words shook his own conviction. After another few moments, he opened his eyes and looked at Moon again.
"Alright. I'm sorry. If I made you uncomfortable, if I've asked you something you can't do. I'm sorry." He said, his voice soft and somber. "I will ask again. If Moxie wants to do this. I don't agree. I think this is the right course of action. But for you, for your peace of mind. I will ask." With that Forte turned and started to leave. He stopped a few steps away though, turning his head back.
"Can we still count on your silence?"

Some of the anger the unicorn felt evaporated as he received an (at least to him) unexpected apology. He hadn't thought his words would help, so this was surprising, to say the least. So at first, he only nodded slightly, unsure of what to say next and how he could show the gratitude he indeed felt towards the pony for listening to him this time. He watched him trot away, still in silence, until Forte turned around and posed his question.
This caused Moon to look at the ground again, his brow furrowing. Could he still be silent, he wondered, they could still do it after all. But, the sceptical side of him was not particularly strong, so the side of him who told him that he should trust them still for now won him over, resulting in a small nod from the unicorn. "I... I suppose you can." He said quietly. "And ah... Thank you. For listening, I mean." He then added, a very small, but there still, smile accompanying it.

Forte nodded. "Thank you." He said. He turned to leave again, but another question popped into his mind. "Say, who was that pretty blue mare that tried to stop you talking to me? I haven't seen her around before." He asked, fully turning around with a smirk on his face.

The unicorn, who had also begun to make to head back out into the main room of the cave, halted a bit at the question, having not expected it. His cheeks couldn't help but grow a little red, but the grin that appeared was unmistakably a happy one, the unicorn barely even recognizing the slightly snarky tone and smirk of Forte as he answered. "That's Trixie! She and I got separated before I got here and she just got here! O-Oh, and uh, she's my fiancée too!" He said, a fair bit of cheeriness in his tone as these thoughts helped to push away the glum thoughts he had had before.

"Oooh, so that's the famous Trixie Lulamoon?" Forte chuckled. "She's pretty cute. It's a shame she's spoken for. I wouldn't mind giving her a shot." Forte teased. He laughed, always enjoying giving Moon a hard time. One of Forte's favorite things to do was make up crazy stories for how ponies got hurt whenever some pony was injured during training. He hoped the humor was releiving tension for Moon the same as it was for him.

"Like Moon said, I'm spoken for, also you wouldn't even have a chance with the great and powerful Trixie." Trixie walked over to Moon nuzzling him softly making it a point to smirk at Forte, in truth she may have been eavesdropping a bit.

The unicorn couldn't help but huff a bit at the tease from Forte, a slight redness tingeing his cheeks as he prepared for a rebuttal. He was however interrupted by the appearance of Trixie, which quickly had him shining back up, his attention effortlessly grabbed by her presence and the subsequent nuzzle. "Hi Trixie!" He said in an for these times unusually chipper tone, giving her a quick return nuzzle. He then managed to remember the presence of the pegasus and so turned to give him a look, smiling not unlike a doof. "Ah, right, you already know her name, but this is Trixie!" He then turned his head to give Trixie a look. "This is Forte, he is one of the combat instructors here in the camp."

"Is that so? Well I'm going to be teaching some magic to the unicorns sometimes too. Unfortunately the combat spells I know are to hard for a regular unicorn.. So I'll be trying to teach illusions to help conceal this place. Nice to meet you either way, but it has been very long since I've been with Moonie" Trixie smiled softly to the pegasus, not really caring for him or his words towards her.

"That's good. We can always use more concealment." Forte said, getting the strong indifferent vibe from her. "Ah, but anyway, I really should get going. It was nice meeting you, Trixie. And Moon, thank you again. And I am sorry." He said. With that, Forte did an about face and trotted quickly out of the medical grotto.

[Enter Tarascha from Barracks & Training Hollow]
After returning from his little trip to see more sights of the camp and to watch the fight between Moxie and the other pony in the Barracks, Tara poked his hooded head into the entrance to the Medical Grotto, checking what ponies might be around at the moment. Before, there had been total chaos in there so in his opinion, it was better to check out if it was going to happen again or not. Upon seeing that most of the ponies from before were gone, he dared to place his front hooves inside and to take a closer look around the wide room, making his presence known by stomping on the floor once as to not scare anypony by accident.

Moon had given Forte a nod and a wave in farewell before he turned his attention to Trixie again. And while he smiled, it would be noticeable that there was a tiredness behind it. This had been an eventful day, to say the least and not to mention an emotionally tiring one, with both ups and downs. How he wished he could simply lie down and do nothing, preferably in the hooves of his fiancée. With this on his mind, he almost didn't notice the hoofsteps of the approaching earth pony, only looking up after they had already been there a while. After noticing who they belonged to, he offered the earth pony a smile. "Ah, welcome back Tara. How was the camp?" He asked, still staying close to Trixie.

"It was acceptable. Looks like you have enough ponies here to defend yourselfs and it seems to be enough space for everypony. Though I might add that it does feel very...restrictive sometimes." He shook a little at the last part. Oh, how he hated the idea of being caged in one place, especially with narrow walls and a low ceiling. Those things still gave him a nervous and uncomfortable feeling, even after spending at least an hour or two inside the caves already.
He took a few more steps into the room, taking it easy and slow to rest his paining rear leg. While trotting, he gave Trixie a little bow of his head but quickly tried to spot the book he had left for Moon before. He was curious what Moon might think of it, if it was worth getting all those little scraps and ideas or if he would continue to trust on what he knew already rather than what seemed to be the scribblings of a mad pony, based on the hoofwriting.

Trixie nodded to the familiar grey pony. He was always such a good friend to the both of them. Though a little tired from he activities with Moon and the fight with that ugly beast earlier she dared not show it quiet yet. She didn't wish for Moon to worry over her, as she could handle herself well. Trixie spoke up to the both of the stallions currently in the room.
"It's nice to be together again, isn't it? Tara, Moon?" She smiled

Moon nodded at the earth pony's statement. He was right in saying that the camp was not perfect, everypony's duties making it a busy lifestyle. But then again, it was hard to imagine anything could be perfect nowadays. "It's a sacrifice we're willing to make. Sure, it's not the best, but we don't have a lot of leeway these days. Maybe it will be better one day, I can't tell, but for now, with food, water, safety and a roof above our heads, we could do a lot worse." He then chuckled a little. "Even if that roof happens to be a mountain."
He then looked to Trixie and offered a, even if it was tired, genuinely thankful smile. "Like you wouldn't believe." He remained wistful for a few moments before he regained "consciousness", an idea sparking in his mind. "You know, if you have time, there's something I'd like to show you."

"Nice indeed. Though I did suspect that you would try to settle down somewhere, Moonlight. Not really that much of a traveler type, I believe. But I presume that "something" you want to show me is of importance. So please, show me." He kept his voice low and monotone as if he suspected that he was being watched or followed by somepony else. But his interest was still genuine. Maybe comming to the camp was worth after all if the doctor had something impressive or special to show him.
Tarascha took a step or two closer but didn't remove the hood or the cloak from himself. After all those years, they became like a second skin to him so most of the time, it did not even occur to him that some ponies might take it as a sign of distrust if he kept both on himself at all times.

Moon nodded once more. Tara was right. While he had tried to make the best of his time on the roads, he had always missed his old life. And the camp, as it were, was the only thing that came close these days. And that was for several reasons, one of which he was eager to show now. "I do think you're right in that. But yes, it is. At least, it is to me, and plenty of people here in camp." He said with a small smile, offering it to both Tara and Trixie as he began to trot towards the exit of the caverns. "It's right this way."
And with a look towards the two, he exited the cave, heading deeper into the camp. On his way, he let the book Tara had given him be lifted to him with his magic, making sure to bring it with him towards wherever they were going.

"Alright. Lead the way." He let Trixie follow right after Moonlight, not wanting to get between her and her husband. He eyed the unicorn's magic as he picked up the book, a tiny smirk making its way on his face as he saw that his gift was indeed recognized. After all, Tara wasn't sure in the beginning if Moon would actually have any use of the book or would simply cast it aside. Seeing that his surprise was appreciated, the pain in his rear leg numbed a tiny bit as he tried not to fall too far behind the other two ponies.

[Enter Pumpkin Vine & Aegis Dare]
Making her way through the cave, Pumpkin flew rapidly to her destination. Reaching the medical grotto, the older mare was pleased to have trained all of those years for things like this. "Attention! We need help! Quickly!" Placing Aegis on a table and finally landing on the cave floor, Pumpkin's eyes darted for any medical supplies to help. "Where is Moonlight Scroll? Stallions.." Mumbling the last part through her old gender hatred of such, the mare had attempted to overcome these feelings. While it certainly started out as a major struggle, as the years passed, staying within these walls had grown easier. Glancing back down to Aegis with sorrow, the warrior hoped for a fast recovery.

Aegis tried to control his breathing, only vaguely aware of things around him. His vision was already blurred, almost useless now.
He was among his old friends, all of whom were gathered at a wooden table. A warm and welcoming tavern.
"Aegis! Long time no see, stranger."
He walked over to them, not quite believing what was before him. "What...but you're dead..."
"And you aren't? You got a hoof in the grave already." The pony said.
Aegis blinked and the sight faded away, replaced with the dull, foggy sight of the medical grotto.
"Pumpkin...hurry..."

As soon as Pumpkin and Aegis entered the cavern, an earth pony stallion at the far end of the room jump a bit into the air, startled, dropping a few hoof-fulls of hay he was carrying. He was one of the few ponies besides Moon who worked primarily with medical, being a sort of student to the more experienced healer. He quickly enough scrambled unto his hooves, approaching the two. "W-What's happening out there!? It sounds like... oh no." He silenced upon seeing the vigorously bleeding Aegis realising the gravity of the situation, gulping before continuing.
"The doc is uh, out, but ah, I got this!" He quickly scoured the cave for clean bandages, towels and water. The bleeding was the worst thing right now, and he needed to get that under control before running after Moonlight. Quickly standing besides Aegis, he dipped his hooves in the water as he inspected as best he could the wound. It looked pretty deep he noted with a grimace, dabbing the towel against the wound to get most of the blood out of the way. "Come on now champ, this is nothing to worry about, just need to stop the bleeding." He said, trying to sound as calm as he could so he wouldn't stress Aegis as he unfurled the bandages. "Keep talking to him." He said to Pumpkin as he pressed the cloth tightly against the wound, applying pressure as he began to bind the shoulder.

Recognizing most of the faces around the camp, Pumpkin Vine's eyes dilated at the scene. Uncertain on his experience with injuries like this, the mare tried to think of a reason to leave and get Moonlight fast. Nodding to his demand however, Pumpkin continued to watch Aegis, her hoof against his face with a soft touch. "Aegis, how old are you? What was life like for you before the war? Come on, might as well tell me."
Not particularly used to dwelling in the lives of others, the warrior hadn't cared for such things. The past was the past. Observing the stallion and his wound now getting plastered with towels, the time ticking away was almost unbearable. "Thats it. I need to get Moonlight Scroll. Keep him alive!"

Aegis sobbed softly, tears streaming down his face. He'd been hurt before, had his wings broken many times and acquired his collection of scars across his shoulders. But he never got used to the pain.
"T-twenty five... Life...i-it was good...peaceful, mostly..." He said, trying to remain conscious, but his strength was leaving him. "Pumpkin...I-if I don't make it...Give Moxie my journals...They're all my m-memories..."
With that, his eyes closed again, but they didn't re-open. The strain of battle took its toll and the pegasus finally passed out.

The stallion let out an exasperated half-groan as Aegis passed out, him however not stopping his wrapping of the shoulder. "Dammit... I... Yes, just resting, good." He mumbled, mostly just thinking out loud. The wrapping continued, him not stopping at the first layer, as blood still seeped through. After several layers had been made however, the flow of blood was stemmed, it finally stopping after a little while. The stallion wiped off his forehead, letting out a breath. "Okay, bleeding stopped..." He grimaced a bit but looked to Autumn with a nod.
"Ah, right, good idea. I uh, I dunno what else I can do now. I'll ah, check for any other signs of injury and keep him... comfortable." He said, with a nod to himself as he turned his attention to the unconsciousness pony. "He's gotta be alright... It was just a cut and the bleeding has stopped so... but maybe... agh, I dunno..." He mumbled again, it again to himself as a sort of loud thinking, him not seeming aware of it himself.

Watching the nurse do what he could in his power, Pumpkin was grateful. Washing over her like a tidal wave, realization had been found. These stallions were not the enemy here, nor should she treat them as such. Gazing over Aegis as he slept, Pumpkin snarled. This was not to be his fate. Turning towards the door, the mare wasted no time. Galloping to the entrance, every bone in her body had screamed for her to stop. To halt now, to avoid saving his life, was one thing Pumpkin Vine was NOT going to do.

In his unconsciousness, he dreamed...
His father, a brave soldier in his day, urging him on stage to read his story to the crowd. Aegis was so nervous that day. His voice was barely audible when he introduced himself. But the odds somehow seemed to vanish, and the nervousness went away as he bent all his thoughts on the story. Next thing he knew, his voice carried out to the crowd, powerful and passionate. As the crowd filtered back into his mind, he smiled. It was no longer an obstacle. It was a challenge.
Another memory, of a collapsing cave. He'd touched the treasure without knowing what would happen... He should have known it was a pressure plate. One of the team was pinned in the escape, trapped by falling debris. Despite the rest of the team telling him not to and that he could be killed too, Aegis ran back to her. After declaring that he wasn't going to lose anypony, he made the mad dash out, pushing himself on past his limits to escape. He was asleep for a week after that.
Every time, he wanted to be a hero. But that didn't mean he had to stand alone. There was a common element in both. He had friends and family who cared about him. If he made it through this... He'd have to work on sharpening his teamwork. Reading his allies as well as his enemies and ties his attacks into theirs to help. Maybe...maybe he wouldn't have lost to Pandy if he'd worked with Pumpkin in the first place.
For now... His weary mind began to settle and grow still. He would have time a plenty to sort this out When he awoke, but for now, this was good enough. Just a little rest to gather up some strength again. A soft smile spread across his muzzle as he began to feel at peace.
