This is not a place you want to be. Based in one of the middle-sections of the castle, this area takes up almost an entire floor. The walls were lined with stone and the windows were covered to confuse/ scare whoever was dragged in here. From The Brass Bull to The Stretcher, all the classics and new devices are here; this is a sadists heaven. You won't leave with a single secret on you.

[Enter Night Whisper & Ruby]
Dropping down from the ceiling, the two ponies had fallen into the torture room below. Successfully hitting the floor and not against any..dangerously sharp objects. What they would notice however, was that this was no ordinary dungeon. Locked inside and trapped against their will, the thud of their bodies was enough to alarm any guards located on the outside. There was no escaping here, that much was obvious.

Night had only barely been able to land on his hooves, as he looks around the strange new room.
'Damn you Chrysalis... You couldn't handle losing, could you?' Night cursed her in his mind. The stallion felt sore all over his body, and his jaw felt as if it was going to shatter. The wounds of his last battle were starting to catch up with him. If he wasn't in such a dangerous position, he would consider a nap. Noticing the sharp objects all around the room, and the general feel of the space he occupied, he was likely in a torture chamber.
'Well, that's what you get for pissing off tyrants I suppose'. Night sighed, this would be a tough one to get out of. Palace Guards would no doubt have heard his ungraceful entry, and would be upon him soon.
Looking to his side, his heart broke at the sight he saw. The mare from earlier, he had roped her into this situation.
"I'm... Sorry. Im sorry for dragging you into this. Listen to me, guards will storm into this room any second now, I need you to get behind me."

Hitting the floor just moments before him, the red coated and pink maned young mare had barely managed to make it out of there alive. Thankful to the bat pony for everything he did.for her, the mare tried to get to her hooves. Wincing at her broken rib from the wind, the unicorn managed to stand with regressed tears clearly clinging to her eyelids. Sniffling, she tried to seem like everything was okay.
"Its...not your fault. But you..shouldn't have tried to attack the Queen..." The mare turned to the cell door, moving slowly and clearly in pain as she made her way behind him.

"Maybe..." His eyes narrow as he gets ready for anypony who comes through that door.
"Though I have the feeling that we'd end up in this room whether I'd attacked her or not."

Unsure what would have happened if she had just left things alone, who knows what would have happened. Drooping her ears to the situation and behind him rather invisible, the red colored mare tried to think of better times. A time before the Queen, a time where she could collect her rubies and paint her art, and everything would be swell once again. Opening her eyes to the real world, she felt depressed and blamed as she sighed.
"I shouldn't have tried to get you to save that pon- that pony! The stallion that went in there.. he disappeared!"

[Enter Umbrum Shadow Legion guard]
Just as the mare came to the realization, the wooden door leading to the next room burst open. On the other side stood a large, intimidating suit of armor, with black mist leaking from the eye-holes. It quickly became apparent that this was not just a suit of armor, but it was a living creature, holding a large crystal-edged halberd at its side. The armored pony got on its back haunches and released an unpony snarl that didn't sound of this earth.
Holding the hauberd in one hoof, the guard moved its free hoof to its chest, where a black-crystal was hanging from a chain. The guard ripped the crystal off and held it up. The crystal quickly turned from black to red, which didn't seem good for the bat and his friend.

Well this guy looked more intimidating than he was expecting. Watching the crystal carefully, Night deduced that it was certainly some sort of magical emblem, or artifact... Or something that would spell bad news for them. Looking down at his own fur, Night internally sighed in relief as the faint white glow remained. That meant that his potion had not run out yet, and he was still temporarily immune to magic.
Steeling his resolve and staring down the armored pony, Night takes a defensive position. He had no weapon to speak of, so this might be tricky.
"I don't want to fight you, but if you take one more step forward, I'll break your hoof and your collarbone." He warns.

It took a moment for the guard to translate what Night said into the ancient language of Umbrum. Once the guard did, a strange, wispy - yet intimidating - laugh could be heard coming from the living suit of armor. It seemed amused by the bats threat, then turned halberd around towards itself and dinged the blade against the solid metal gorget protecting its collarbone. The guard then raised a hoof to show the thick metal casing around that as well.
The armor it wore would take hours to remove and put on, most likely. That, or the guard lived in the armor, which was a popular theory. Once it got its handling back on the halberd, it took a moment, then said in an unearthly voice:
"You are.... in the bowls... No escape... surrender..."

Well this would be... Problematic at best. Most suits of armor had gaps at the neck and joints, but this suit seemed to be covered head to toe. Still, Night didn't let this intimidate him. Everything has a weakness, you just have to find it.
"I'm not surrendering. Come any closer, and I'll break you like a tin can. "

The Umbrum proceeded to take one step closer, pointing the halberd at the bat with two hooves and remaining on its two back legs. Its mental translations weren't perfect, but it sounded like the Bat pony was trying make banter.
The guard was definitely ready for a fight. The guard seemed a bit slow physically, but a slice from that halberd would definitely hurt. A gladius was also at the Umbrum's side for close up & personal work, if the halberd proved inefficient. It looked around the room and searched any potential weapons that the Bat or the mare might try to grab, wishing to move there first and block the way.
With it being a torture chamber, of course there were several sharp, blunt, short, and long instrements that would serve as halfway-decent impromptu weapons.

(Note, I spoke to the Shadow Legion about the layout of the room. I'm not just pulling this out of my ass.)
Night stood his ground, taking a moment to observe the room with his peripheral vision, his gaze never leaving the armored clad creature. There had to be something beyond a simple weapon he could use to his advantage. That was when the stallion noticed a faint glow to the left. A fireplace? Yes, he could vaguely feel the heat radiating from the fire.
The Bat Pony remained in a defensive stance, waiting for the guard to attack first. He wouldn't move to grab a weapon.

The Umbrum careful steps towards Night, readying for an attack until the guard was within killing range. Once the guard was within, he jolted to the side and did a deadly swing from left to right; surely with enough force to decapitate both if they didn't dodge. Whatever was lurking beneath that armor had enough strength to beat an Earth pony in an arm-wrestling match.

The young mare remained hidden, her frightened stance made clear by her shivers. Keeping an eye on Night, she yearned to help, but injured and scared, she was sure that she would just be in the way. A pon and nothing more then a body he needed to risk his life for..again. Whispering to him, she tried to be a secret. Lunging backwards at the shadow soldiers strike, Ruby Rose had winced at her broken rib. Barely dodging, she managed to crawl to the corner. 'Please sir.. becareful'

Thankful that the mare possessed the wherewithal to get out of the way, Night himself ducked under the swing. Knowing he only had one shot at this, and that he could only out muscle this thing while it was off balance, the bat waited a mere second for the guard to reach the apex of his swing.
'Now!' He mentally notes, as he uses his vastly superior speed to flank to the right. Using all of the strength he could muster, Night shoves the unbalanced, armored pony towards the fireplace. As he shoved, stallion unsheathed the guard's gladius and took it in his own hoof. If all goes correctly, the guard's own weight should send him toppling into the fire.
Night's white glow envelops the sword, making it immune to magic just as he is.

Fortunately for Night, things did go according to plan, and the guard toppled face-first into the fire-place. The beast let out a horrid roar as it fumbled its hooves a bit to pull itself out. Night could also see a small sliver of blackness at the base of the guard's neck; an opening in the armor.
Once the guard pulled itself out, its head, neck, chest, and front-hooves were red-hot from the fire; most likely the fire was magically maintained at impossibly high temperatures to lessen the waiting time on heated torture-instruments. For a normal pony, they would be writhing on the ground and dying slowly, but the guard seemed unphased by its temperature. Smoke stopped leaking from its eye-holes, and it only seemed to be more infuriated. It dropped its halberd when it fell, and showed no intention of picking it up.
Instead, the beast charged Night again, aiming to pounce him and smother him under the red-hot metal of its armor.

Well shit, this was a terrifying sight. Night Whisper had planned on blocking off the fireplace so that he couldn't eacape, but it appeared his enemy was too fast... Or he was still to slow. The bat's fight with Queen Chrysalis was really starting to catch up to him, the bruises hurt like hell, and his breathing was laboured. Still, he maintained a speed and mental advantage over his foe, and those beat out brute strength every time.
Feeling a solid object block his way from backing up any further, the former Lunar guard was pleased at what it was. A giant tub of water, this must be where they shock cool the heated metal, or who knows what else considering this is a torture room. Regardless of its former use, Night knew just how he could use this to his advantage. Grabbing the table he was planning on using to block off the fireplace, he tilts it upright, between him and the charging guard. Using his heightened sense of hearing, Night would fly up when the guard got close, and hopefully his enemy would run straight into the water, shock cooling the red hot armor and producing steam. Lots and lots of steam.

Again, things went according to plan. The guard wanted nothing more than to give Night a big hug and sear the meat off his bones. Instead, however, he was met with a large bucket of water, and tumbled to the floor after it made contact. Steam filled the room, and the guard howled in confusion; unable to see.
Slowly, the guard started to stand, attempting to look around for Night but having issues because he was at the epicenter of all the steam.

Streaming his wings the instant he heard the guard getting too close, Night launched himself into the air, just barely allowing himself enough time to dodge the shards of wood from the shattered table, and the angry steaming hot suit of armor.
'Dammit Night, don't cut it so close next time!' He mentally chastised his own recklessness. To his delight however, the plan went off without a hitch, as he runs straight I to the tub of water. Steam immediately filled the room as the dangerously hot metal almost instantaneously cooled to room temperature. Not only did this make it safe for Nightvto approach him, but the steam would give him some added cover.
Night's cat like eyes focus in on the weak spot at the neck... That was it, that was how he was going to finish this thing. Flying in from behind, Night prepares his gladius and shoves it straight through the neck gap.
The bat's eyes widen in shock, for not only did his blade slip in much too easily, but the guard continued to move! It was if there was nopony in there to begin with!
"AHH!" Night cries out in shock and surprise. He stumbles back, yanking the gladius at an angle as he does so.
With a quiet 'pop', the armored helm separates from the body, and Night falls flat on his back.

The head popped off and landed with a loud 'clank' on the floor next to the creature. All the movement made the steam dissipate just a bit, and as Night looks back up at the guard, he could see a monstrous head made of pure shadows, with small, glowing red eyes. The mouth opened and it roared, just before getting caught on a gust of wind and being yanked out of the armor.
The suit of armor collapsed into a messy pile and scattered all over the room as the shadow was yanked out by the gust of wind.

[Enter King Sombra]
The gust of wind was caused by a door opening. The sound of bubbles forming and popping could be heard throughout the room as the steam was forcibly ventilated out. Moments later, King Sombra saunters in with his head held high, his cape flowing behind him, and an unamused scowl on his face. His hideous crystal-war-hammer levitated beside him; both ends jagged and sharp, with a small shard between both ends for stabbing. He looked to the pile of armor silently then magically slammed the door shut behind him.
"You've made a mess..." King Sombra hisses, kicking a hoof-protector across the room in a small fit of rage. "Very few ponies have infiltrated this castle, and even less live to boast of the tale. It looks like you've saved me the trip of dragging you here. So tell me, why are you in my play-room?" King Sombra asks, pointing the intimidating hammer at Night, unaware of the mare's presence in the room.

The moment Night Whisper looked up to inspect the source of the noise, he immediately regretted it. First a Beastling, then Queen Chrysalis, then some shadow ghost suit of armor, and now King Sombra... Somepony in high places must have really wanted Night dead. Getting to his hooves, albeit with some strain due to exhaustion, the defiant bat pony meets Sombra's smokey gaze with his own, glowing one.
"Infiltrate this place? You think I'm here by choice?! I didn't even realize where I had been teleported, until I saw you... Sombra." That's right, he knew he was in the Crystal Empire. Not a lot of ponies that would match Sombra's description, unless it was a changeling. Night secretly hoped it was a changeling rather than the real thing, though that was highly unlikely.

The bats bravery mused King Sombra only for a moment, then it became dull and annoying. He rests his hammer on the ground and scans Night over quickly with is red & green eyes. It was quite strange for a bat pony to show up in his play-room and defeat one of his Umbrum guards.
"Teleported here?" Sombra echoed, connecting the dots quickly to Chrysalis. She's been pushing his buttons today quite a bit. He thought about writing her a nasty letter, but decided against it; his handwriting is terrible.
King Sombra jerked his head to the side and flung the hammer to his left, then swung it magically to take out one of Night's back-legs; aiming to shatter it.

Night hadn't taken his eyes off of the hammer during they're entire exchange. The bat pony has heard stories of Sombra, and knew that he wouldn't be above taking a cheap shot. The moment he lost sight of the war hammer, the stallion knew what was up. Kicking off with what little strength he could muster, Night Whisper flips over the potential low blow, his wings helping to guide him.
"Dirty trick Sombra... Are you afraid that if you fight fairly, I'll take you down just like I took down Chrysalis?" He glares at the tyrant.

King Sombra missed, and he hates missing. The King clenched his teeth and trotted forward, swinging the hammer all over the room at rapid pace; making it difficult to tell which direction the hammer would strike from next.
"Three Aleicorns have all tried to take me down, yet here I stand. A bat won't stand in my way. I'll make you scream in agony." Sombra hisses, true rage laced in his voice. The hammer made a hard right from Night's side and went under him. It then darted straight up; aiming to impale Night's belly and knock the wind out of him.

Thump. Thump. Thump.
The battle hardened bat felt as if his heart was going to beat out of his chest at any moment. Adrenaline surging though stamina depleting, Night wasn't aboutvto give up. Swing after swing he was able to evade, though it would seem that his luck would soon run its course.
CRUNCH!
"ARGH!" Night cries out in pain as he is struck on the left side by Sombra's hammer. Definitely broken ribs. Plural. Before he could react, the hammer came in from the right, and went under him. Purely out of reaction, Night grabs the hammer and... Nothing, no pain. The hammer drops to the floor as it is consumed by a white glow. Luckily for Night, he still had a little over sixty seconds left from the potion, and Sombra's magical hold over the weapon ceased the moment Night grabbed it.
Night stumbles as he struggled to keep upright. With a single cough, blood came out of his maw, coating his teeth and fangs.
"I... Don't... Care..." He growls.
"And *cough* you'll get nothing from me!"

The bravery on this one was quite remarkable. He could be a princess - in another life - and it was far too great of a soul to waste with death. Nightmare Moon can have him later, he had fun plans for this one, and he wouldn't even have to leave the comforts of this room to see them through.
Sombra raised a hoof and focused on it. A black crystal burst from his hoof, as did another, and another, and another after that! His hoof was soon covered with a thick layer of black crystals, with shards jutting out from every side; effectively making his hoof a mace.
King Sombra poofed into smoke, only to reappear directly in front of Night Whisper. The crystal-mace around his hoof wasn't magic, it was cold, sharp crystal. He raised his hoof and swung for his head, with enough force to effectively knock daze him, though it would be unlikely to kill him.

Night felt a lump in his throat when Sombra reappeared in front of him in no time at all. At one hundred percent, Night Whisper may have been able to dodge his strike... But he was far from one hundred percent. The bat was bruised, hurt, disoriented and down right exhausted. His ears began to ring as a massive blunt force struck him in the temple. His eyes rolled back, and he didn't even have enough time to process what had hit him before he lost consciousness.
The broken bat flopped down next to the hammer, unmoving. He was alive, but in very bad shape.

A mad smile overcame King Sombra's face as some blood splattered on his face. He looked at the fallen bat pony and shook off the crystals from his hoof; scattering them all about the room. He'll have a maid clean this mess up later.
He scanned the room, thinking of which toy to use today. He was stuck between Judas's Cradle and the stretcher. He decided to go with the stretcher, seeing as he could do far more things to the bat if he were sprawled out and unable to move. Sombra picked the unconscious bat up with a grunt and laid him on the table. He tied Night to the device and pulled the lever back just enough to make sure Night was completely unable to move.
After that he called in the torture-medic to come in and magically heal up Night. It was important to have a torture-medic around at all times. It's no fun to torture an already battered pony; you push them past their breaking point, then whilst they're on the brink of death, you fully heal them and do it again!
Once Night was fully healed, King Sombra got on his back two hooves and lightly slapped Night's face.
"Wake up, bat." King Sombra said with a wide, pleased smile.

Night awoke with a loud gasp. Surprisingly, he actually felt better than he did before he was knocked out, and his ribs seemed to cause him no pain. No fractured skull? Is he in a hospital? I'd he even alive? He certainly felt alive. More than alive, he actually felt fine for once.
That was before he came to the crushing realization that he was in the same room, strapped to a table, with Sombra looking down on him. It all made sense now.
"I see... Healing me just so you can torture me. That's cold, even for a pony like you."
