Post by Seller: The Prophet (R.I.P) on Jul 14, 2015 21:17:26 GMT
Name: Menteur Manipulateur
Nickname: Formerly Seller, now he only goes by the title: The Prophet.
Age: Around 25, however he is unsure himself.
Gender: Stallion.
Species: Unicorn/Tartarus-Spawn
Place of Birth: A small village East of Hollow Shades.
Occupation: Fugitive/Prophet for Nightmare Moon
Allegiance: Nightmare Moon
Relationship Status: Single.
Mane: Long and brown, always looking washed and unnaturally clean. Ever since his latest transformation, he has no need to wash or groom himself, as that his his normal form.
Eyes: A deep, empty shade of emerald. His new pupils are slit, like a cat, however he can change that at will.
Living Relatives: None, all in the bowls of Tartarus.
General Description: Short, for a stallion, with a stubby, stubborn snout and a face meant for scowling. He has an orange coat, with a faintly muscular body. His coat can be the softest thing you've ever touched, and his mane even softer. He has no cutiemark anymore, since it was taken by Nightmare Moon. His horn is thick at the base and curved, due to birth defects. After his transformation, Seller's teeth are naturally sharp, and his tongue is naturally thin & long, like a serpent.
Skills: His natural born talent is Dark Magic - or Wiccan Magic - as he prefers to call it. It's an unexplored, dangerous, and highly corrupting school of magic, so it's hardly a positive skill, but it does offer quite powerful spells. Due to his background, he is also exceptional at living on his own and scouring for food & shelter. He's a superb hunter in the forest, and knows quite a few natural remedies that his brother, a natural born alchemist, taught him. Because of his background, he's also very adaptable to new situations and because of Princess Luna's teachings, Seller is more trained in combat and swordplay than the average pony, and has no fear of sinking a blade deep enough to end a life. After his transformation with Nightmare Moon, Seller's magical ability is amplified, he has an incredible healing-factor, he has a vast knowledge of Tartarus, meaning he can know the name of mostly anypony he meets - and depending on the pony - know things about their past. He is able to poof into a smokey form.
Faults: His magic is his biggest fault. Dark Magic is feared world-wide by the smart and ignorant alike because of how vicious it is, and how it can corrupt even the purest of hearts. From the first day he discovered his magic, he was forever changed; It made him into a cynical, selfish, power-hungry monster that didn't give a fig about the rest of the world. It destroyed his life and slowly pushed him into insanity, then into the embrace of Nightmare Moon. Due to his several identity changes, he tries not to think at all about his original life as Menteur, and the things he had done in that life, therefore he has given himself dissociate amnesia. If he's ever reminded of his original life, he may break down completely on a mental level. That being said, physically, he can regenerate most of his body, but the brain is a different story. If his brain is destroyed, he's sent back to tartarus, where it's Nightmare Moon's decision whether to send him back out again. He needs to have room in order to regenerate a limb or anything, therefore if he had every hoof removed, then if he was placed in a small box, he'd be a limbless horse.
Equipment: His prior mentor, Princess Luna, had gifted Seller with a set of Leather armor, a sword, and a dagger before her final fight with the evil villain. During the battle, Seller was severely injured and lost his sword, but he escaped with his dagger, armor, and his life. He possesses no other weapons, and the dagger has rusted over the five years. He's stolen a considerable amount of bits from other ponies using his magic, along with their saddlebags and whatever small things he finds in there. He has a comb, pair of scissors, a saddlebag which he decided to keep, a nice black cotton 'beanie', and a few books that he's stolen from various libraries. These were all stashed away, however, and now he has nothing but the fur on his back.
History: Menteur Manipulateur was born in a small village, East of the town Hollow Shades, though he claims to be from the town itself. The village where Menteur was raised is located in a clearing inside the Always-Dark-Forest, and it was a Wiccan Tribe. The ability to use Dark Magic - or Wiccan Magic - naturally is a trait passed down by bloodlines. Families that all shared these bloodlines banded together and made a small home for themselves, away from the scrutiny of society in Equestria, far before the usurping of King Sombra ever occurred. In this village, the tempering and training of the Wiccan ways were the only schools taught. Even the Earth Ponies and Pegasi born in the village had Wiccan powers of some kind. Those born without natural powers were shunned, and the bloodline of their family was considered to be 'dried up'.
Menteur Manipulateur, born with a rare horn defection, was unable to use any kind of magic known in Wiccan history, and was shunned by all including his own family. He still attended the teachings of how to use Wiccan magic in hopes that he would show power, but If no forms of natural Wiccan ability were made evident by the age of twelve, he would be banished from the village indefinitely. His brother and sister occasionally broke the rules and spent time with him, though punishment for breaking a shunning were severe, so they only risked it occasionally. He grew up shunned for the first eleven years of his life, then, suddenly, he discovered his magic for the first time in the privacy of his own room.
It came out of nowhere, a simple whisper in the back of his mind. It was a voice, and it told him softly what to do. Following the voices instructions, Menteur was able to conjure up a horrid, bubbling, purple and black aura around his curved horn! It was ugly, but it was still magic! Ecstatic, Menteur's first thought was to tell his parents, and end the shunning, but the voice threatened to leave, and take its magic with it if he did. So in secret, for the next few weeks, Menteur followed the teachings of the mysterious voice and watched as his magic grew stronger with every lesson.
One night, a week before his 12th birthday, the voice told Menteur to do something new; it told him to conjure up a simple flame, a purple one, right in the center of his room, above the wooden floor of course. Following the voices instructions, Menteur conjured a purple flame ball, floating a few feet off the ground. Something felt strange thought, he felt like he had no control over his own horn anymore. He saw a pair of vicious, yellow eyes in the flames, and a twisted, white smile as the flame grew larger and larger before him. All Menteur remembered was the horrifying pain of being burned alive before passing out...
With all his fur, mane, and most of his skin burnt away, a new pony awoke in a pile of ash and timber. The pain was excruciating, and didn't stop; he felt like he should be dead, but something was keeping him alive. The entire village was gone, all of the buildings, ponies, and nearby trees were burnt beyond recognition, and he was the only survivor. Menteur Manipulateur, his family, and the village all died in those purple flames; a new pony was born, however, with a new name; one he heard whispered in the back of his mind by a voice: Seller.
Using a nearby mud-pond, Seller sat and waited as the naturally curing pond helped speed the process of his skin & fur to grow back. The pain was intolerable, but he found a persistence to survive. For the next two years, he wandered the Always-Dark-Forest; hunting its strange animals, and gathering the odd herbs & plants that grew from its soil. Following the voice's instructions, he became quite the hunter, and with effort, Seller was able to perfect his aura into an elegant, purple flame.
After those two years, Seller left the forest, and became a very talented criminal; stealing bits, food, clothing, anything he wanted using his magic. Once he even worked up the courage to rob a bank in Dodge City. For 5 long years he wandered around Equestria, never staying in one place for too long in fear of being arrested. Once, in Manehatten city, he was chased up a sixteen-story-building by a police officer. After he and the officer reached the roof, Seller mercilessly used his magic to push the police officer off to his demise. After that, Seller stayed away from cities. He wandered south and west, slowing down a bit and staying for longer periods in forests.
It was near a small town of Ponyville where Seller learned of the god-like Princesses who reigned over Equestria: Princess Celestia and Princess Luna. It was also there he learned of Tartarus, and the punishments inflicted there for what one does during his lifetime. These two discoveries terrified and mystified Seller, finally giving him a goal in life: become immortal. He went to the beautiful city of Canterlot, filthy and unwashed as he normally was. There, he spent and stole a large quantity of bits, but under the voice's instruction, he also stole some books on Canterlots history, on Canterlot etiquette, and a few other subjects. He fled Canterlot reluctantly, and sought out a pony who could teach him the accent of a Canterlot pony.
Once he considered himself ready, he showered in one of Ponyville's finest hotels, ventured to Canterlot, and went straight to the Canterlot Palace. Sneaking past guards was second nature to Seller, proving it easy to find the quarters of Princess Luna. Normally, a foal's mentor or parents would submit a request to the board of Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns in order to attend, but Seller had neither, so he went directly to the Princesses himself.
Due to a strange cake incident, Princess Celestia was --- indisposed, so Seller found himself at the hooves of Princess Luna in her chambers instead. After giving an informal introduction, and an even more informal entry-exam, Princess Luna not only gifted Seller entry to Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns, but took him under her wing as her personal protege and student. This was a dream-come-true, as Seller knew what happened to the last pony who was a student to a princess. Immortality, and maybe even a throne was within reach, but sadly, the Princesses reign did not last long enough for Seller to earn Alicornhood...
5 Years And Summary!
Princess Luna was an old fashioned teacher, and absolutely wouldn't tolerate a weak student. She trained Seller in combat, and was sure to give him as much battle experience as he could get. She provided armor and weapons for his training, but he planned on buying his own sword & dagger later on. Princess Luna summoned Seller to her chambers, and informed him on an upcoming battle with a new foe that he had already encountered. She planned on finishing the fight personally, and asked him to join her in the fight. Seller took on Owlbears, Changlings, Changling-beasts, and all kinds of monsters under her mentorship, all the while the voice in his mind remained idle and silent.
When the final battle began, Seller charged, in an attempt to impress Princess Luna. This did not end well for him, as he was quickly thrown to the back of the room so the villain could focus on his true opponent. The fall injured Seller quite badly, and it was on the ground that he witnessed the end of both Princess Celestia and Princess Luna. Using his magic, and what little energy he had left, Seller fled the castle, then Canterlot through the sewers, where he moved back to square one.
He had a plan, and a new mentor in mind. Princess Luna had mentioned the new mentor quite a few times, and how to summon her. The only problem was that this new mentor could only be summoned on a solar-eclipse, which would happen in about five years. His goal was still immortality and power, and he hoped that this new mentor would provide him with at least one of the two.
Seller had no family, no friends, no allies, and no home. He wandered Equestria as he did before meeting Luna, always on the move, and now he was always being hunted by the new regimes soldiers & mercenaries. The voice came back, and aided Seller when he needed it, but that was only on rare occasions. He stole, injured, and sometimes even killed along his journey, but in the end he had a plan; to summon his new mentor: Nightmare Moon. Along his journey, he met an old one-eyed hermit who told Seller - not by choice - about a incantation hidden in the Ponyville Palace Library that can be used to summon Nightmare Moon.
Five years in total rolled around slowly for Seller, but the time was approaching, and he was ready, in a small temporary shelter he created for himself in the woods. A new chapter was about to open for Seller; the shadow of a shell of a pony. Once he gathered enough courage, he set out and went to Ponyville, headed towards the palace.
