So, you want to join the battle for Equestria? Well, we'd be happy to have you! While the first rule of Battle Equestria is to have a good time, there are other rules that must be followed by all members when creating a character. I would encourage all new members to read up on these rules to ensure a good time is had by all. So without further delay...
1. All new characters must be approved by the admin, or a moderator before posting in the main forum. This is to ensure quality OCs with detailed backstories, clear motives and allegiances. If you should make a post without first having your character approved, your posts will be deleted. I would very much like to avoid deleting all of your well thought out posts, so I would advise following the character building procedures.
2. All character sheets must adhere to the character sheet template. If a member should stray too far from the given character template, they will be asked to reformat their character sheet. The template can be found here.
3. No Alicorn OC's will be accepted. Seriously, we are not accepting Alicorns. The Alicorn species has been dwindled down to Princess Celestia, Princess Luna, Princess Cadence and Twilight Sparkle. We aren't looking to extend the Alicorn family.
4. If you wish to play as a Canon MLP character, you must first ask permission from the Admin. That's this guy. Shoot him a private message detailing who you wish to represent, and he will determine whether you're right for the role or not.
5. OCs may not have any relation to canon characters unless pre approved by the player RPing that character. That means you can't make 'Rainbow Dash's brother', or 'Applejack's husband'. If at all possible, your character should be fairly separated from anyone canon, unless you are being very vague. Something like 'My OC used to be a guard for Princess Celestia' is totally acceptable.
6. All equipment must be clearly labeled on your character sheet. Sorry buddy, but you can't just make up any gadget you want to get out of any situation. If you are unfortunate enough to get poisoned, the antidote isn't going to magically appear in your backpack. If it ain't on your character sheet, you can't use it (Unless said item was picked up during roleplay).
7. Be reasonable with the equipment you take. Just remember a few simple facts when giving your OC supplies and equipment at character creation. Firstly, how would your character come to posses this item? This isn't an issue for common supplies, but if your OC has some sort of rare artifact, or a complex exotic weapon, you need to explain in detail as to where/how they got it. Secondly, remember that things are heavy. Only take what your character can reasonably carry unassisted. Travel light.
8. Characters must refrain from being overpowered, or from being a mary/gary sue. So, you've come up with a great idea for a character? That's awesome! While it's all well and good to imagine what feats your character has done, or talents he/she possesses, they must also come with their fair share of faults. Nobody's perfect, and your character should reflect that.
9. Mind your characters power level. And before anyone cracks an 'over 9000' joke, I'm not talking about Dragonball Z. Basically, be realistic on who your character would overcome in a fight. If your Pegasus OC charges Queen Chrysalis, or someone of equal power, alone with a butterknife, you're going to get demolished. Laughably. Cooperation is key to success.
