Greetings to all members of Battle Equestria, it's that time of year again. The time of year where your deepest, darkest fears emerge from your mind and take hold. It's Halloween!
Now I know what some of you are thinking, 'Nightmare Moon you sexy beast, it's not even October yet!'. While I'm aware that late September isn't exactly Halloween season, I wanted to take this opportunity to set up this OOC thread (out of character thread). It is here that players may join the Roleplay, and discuss the RP. Joining will be closed when I make the first post on OCTOBER 1st.
First things first, I feel like I should warn you all. Much like last year's Halloween RP, this will be a lethal RP. Character death is very much on, and if you join this RP you are willingly giving me permission to kill off your character whenever I deem appropriate. No one is safe.
Now, last year we explored what it would be like if Ponyville were to be overrun by the undead. This year, I have decided to pay homage to Ridley Scott's masterpiece, 'Alien'. That's right, it's time for ponies in space, strap in. There will be certain structural differences this time around that I will cover in a moment.
First, let's discuss why you're all here...
The year is 2122, and space colonization has been a part of pony society for little over a century. Pony kind has travelled and lived much further out in the great beyond than ever thought possible. Maintaining these colonies however, can prove to be quite the struggle. That's where you and your team comes in.
You work for the Weyland Yutani corporation aboard the starship 'Mercury'. It is your duty to transport valuable goods to far out colonies... Essentially you are a space trucker. The pay is lousy, the work is demanding, and you're expected to be away from Equestria for years at a time... But at least it pays the taxes, and keeps food on the table for your families back home. It's not the most glamorous job, but at least you're fortunate enough to have a job in the first place.
At first, this run seemed as normal as any other... That was, until you actually arrived at your destination. The entire colony seemed to be missing. The gigantic building itself seemed to be in tact, though the residents seemed to apparently vanish. You and your team decide to enter the colony, and discover just what in the hay is going on. What lies in store for you... Well let's just say you don't get paid enough for this shit.
ROLES:
(Unlike last year's RP, there will be a certain amount of roles for you guys to choose from. The SS Mercury is a tightly run ship, and you all have your specific assignments. Only one player may be assigned to a role, and it's on a FIRST COME FIRST SERVE basis.)
CAPTAIN
Basilisk Nova
As the Captain of the SS Mercury, you are in charge of the entire operation as a whole. You are by far the most experienced, and it is up to you to make sure each operation goes smoothly. When that turns out to be impossible, it is your job to make sure everypony makes it out unharmed. You are the leader, and your team will look to you for guidance. It's a lot of responsibility, and space can be dangerous... But that's why they pay you the big bucks.
Equipment: long range communicator, standard space suit, a basic pistol with one magazine (12 rounds), flashlight, short range motion tracker.
PILOT
Seller
There are a lot of different components necessary to fly a starship, but perhaps the most basic (and arguably the most important) is the pilot. You are the official navigator of the SS Mercury, and the second most senior crew member. You plot long range courses into space, as well as fly the ship whilst in orbit. If something terrible should befall the captain, you would be promoted to acting captain.
Equipment: long range communicator, standard space suit, flashlight.
CO-PILOT
Tarascha Terastari
While the pilot takes over the majority of the workload when it comes to flying the ship, there is simply too much to concentrate on for a single pony to handle. That is where the co pilot comes in. It is your job to not only take some of the work load off of the pilot, but to observe and receive training. One day, you may find yourself being promoted to a full fledged pilot!
Equipment: long range communicator, standard space suit, flashlight.
ENGINEER
Flux
The simple truth about working on a starship, no matter how well it's built, is that things break. This can range from slightly inconvenient to absolutely disastrous. Luckily, you're here. Fixing things is what your best at, and it's what you're paid to do. Whether it's the engines, heavy machinery, or the damn coffee machine, you are the go to mr.fix it.
Equipment: long range communicator, basic space suit, flashlight, basic tools (screwdriver, wrenches), welding mask, blowtorch
MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Moonlight Scroll
Space can be a very hazardous environment. There are literally thousands of ways a pony can get injured, or even contract foreign diseases. Your job as the medical professional is not only to heal crew injuries, but also to provide dental services, maintain artificial limbs, and even preform surgery if possible. The well being of the crew members of the Mercury is of utmost concern to Weyland Yutani.
Equipment: long range communicator, basic space suit, flashlight, scalpel, basic medical supplies (bandages, disinfectants, ect...)
SECURITY
Strong Defense
In space, there isn't really much need for a security specialist. I mean, it's not like aliens exist, right? Nobody is going to board your ship mid voyage. Your job as the security professional, is to watch the security cameras, and basically make sure everypony is doing their jobs. When landed and delivering the cargo, it is also your duty to make sure that nopony who isn't authorized to enter your ship, does.
Equipment: long range communicator, basic space suit, flashlight, stungun, baton.
SURVEYOR
Trixie
The surveyor spends most of their time doing... Practically nothing during the actual space travel, and even less during the delivery. The only thing that the surveyor is hired on to do, is scout out mysterious areas when things get a little hairy. Does a situation seem a little fishy/hazardous? Send in the surveyor. They are also commonly utilized when places need to be explored and objects need to be found.
Equipment: long range communicator, basic space suit, flashlight, crowbar, 3 flares, sawed off shotgun (3 shells), long range motion tracker.
ELECTRICIAN
Onyx Mind
On a starship, something as simple as a power outage can be potentially lethal. This is why the electrician is around. It is up to you to keep the power running. You become the crew's most valuable commodity when the lights go out.
Equipment: long range communicator, basic space suit, basic tools (screwdriver, wrenches), flashlight.
SERVICEMARE
Cobblestone Road
The servicemare is the heavy lifter of the crew. In the end, your job is to deliver cargo, and somebody's got to move that cargo. You specialize in the use of forklifts, cranes, loaders, and just straight up lifting heavy things.
Equipment: long range communicator, basic space suit, flashlight, nail gun, short range motion tracker.
CARGO
Archimedes
You are in charge of making sure all of the cargo remains in tact during the journey. Things break, and when it comes to cargo, broken things means money flushed down the toilet. It is up to you to manage, and maintain our cargo so that Weyland Yutani receives as little breakage as possible.
Equipment: long range communicator, basic space suit, flashlight.
TRAINEE
Moxie
Congratulations trainee on your recent employment with Weyland Yutani Industries. As I am sure you are aware from your in depth orientation, that Weyland Yutani is committed to providing a safe work environment for all of its employees. As your very first delivery run, you will not be charged with many responsibilities. Instead, your job is to observe, and learn, while aiding the serviceman, electrician and engineer with whatever they need. You are the most inexperienced member of the SS Mercury, though everypony needs to start somewhere.
Equipment: long range communicator, basic space suit, flashlight.
SOLE COLONY SURVIVOR
Plush Ramen
You've met with a terrible fate, haven't you? You've lived your entire life in the colony 'Celestia IV'. Most of your days have been spent with your fellow colonists, gradually terraforming the planet, and growing food and foliage to make pony existence on this hostile world possible. A fairly boring existence, but necessary if pony kind is to into the stars. Yes, there is nothing overly extraordinary about your daily routine... That was, until a discovery was made. A discovery of a derelict ship, hundreds of miles away from Celestia IV in a crater.
Now they're all dead. Everypony except you. For whatever reason, be it your natural intuition or just plain dumb luck, you've been able to survive for weeks on your own. Until now...
Equipment: basic space suit (Salvaged), Make shift flame thrower (Almost out of fuel)
BASIC RULES AND GUIDELINES:
-No godmodding, of course.
-I will keep to the schedule of posting roughly once a day. You are allowed two posts between my posts, make them count.
-Once your character is dead, they're dead. No whining, no pleading, no miraculously raising from the dead.
-No out of character drama. If you start shit with another member, you're out. This is what killed last year's Halloween RP, I won't tolerate it.
-This isn't D&D guys. Seriously. There will be no dice rolls. This is a purely narrative based Roleplay, and I will act as the hand of fate. I tried the dice system last year, and it didn't work.
-Remember, this is a survival RP, not an action RP. You're free to go around and be a one man army if you wish, but I can practically guarantee that you are going to die that way. You're a rabble of space truckers, not soldiers.
-if you remain inactive for too long without consulting me first, I'm killing you off.
-You may only play as ONE character.
-if all the roles are taken, talk to me. I'm sure we can work things out. Just remember, joining will be CLOSED on October 1st, no exceptions.
-Magic will be severely nerfed for this RP. No long range teleportation. If you try and abuse magic to cheat your way out of the RP, I'll just delete your post.
-Tier 2+ characters are banned.
-have fun dammit.
