Name: Short Fuse (not even she knows this is her real name)
Nickname: Ka-Boom, Boom,
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Species: Pegasus
Place of Birth: Dodge City
Occupation: Mercenary, Thief, does whatever she thinks is fun at the moment
Allegiance: Ka-Boom is completely oblivious to the changes in Equestria and such, has no opinion on princess, queens or authority
Relationship Status: Single
Mane: Her mane is a soft shade of pink and usually very messy, with bangs sticking out into every possible direction. On the back of her head, her mane usually keeps itself in the form of three spikes. The length and style of her tail changes constantly because she burns it by playing around with explosives and fire.
Eyes: A dark shade of orange, nearly even amber
Living Relatives: If they are still alife, Ka-Boom wouldn't ever recognise them anyway, otherwise a group of nine mercenaries that raised her
General Description: Overall, the pegasus mare can be described as thin with unusually big ears poking out of her head. Her coat is a light shade of brown with a few black spots that change positions whenever her coat heals and then singes in another area. She is lacking a great deal of knowledge about hygene and such looks pretty unkempt and wild in the eyes of other ponies. Her cutie mark is a red and yellow cartoon style explosion with the word "Kaboom" written in black letters inside the colors.
If one was to look at this mare, they would immediately notice her case of lazy eye as her right eye was slightly smaller than her left one and wandered around without focus at times. If she looks at her reflection, Ka-Boom never notices anything weird about the mare that is looking back at her and even feels proud of the color of her mane and tail.
What one can also quickly notice by engaging in conversation with her, would be that there are two more obvious things about her. First, she has a hard time pronouncing the letter S and always ends up using the Z instead of the S. Second, she lacks most of the common sense a pony should have and acts more like a filly than anything else.
Skills: Most of her skills are centered around creating explosive devices and using them on whatever she thinks should be destroyed or moved away. She also has experience in gathering the materials needed for said devices. These experiences include stealing, robbing, mining , taking apart other explosives or improvising and using seemingly harmless items to create weapons of mass destruction.
Other than her knowledge in explosives, she is also an average flier with a lot of speed, but little endurance. Ka-Boom doesn't know a lot of fancy flying manuevers but is able to drop her bombs perfectly on target from out of the air without many problems.
Her other skills include the base training of using several weapons such as swords, crossbows and knifes , knowledge of several different card and dice games which are usually played with less admirable company and, strangely enough, seducing. Most of these skills were taught to her by a group of mercenaries with whom she traveled for most of her life.
Her last skill worth talking about would be her creativity itself as she is constantly trying to create weapons or items out of otherwise useless junk or damaged objects. Her "outside of the box" thinking saved herself a lot of times already but put her in at least the same amount of dangerous positions as it solved.
Faults: Her biggest fault would be Ka-Booms giant lack of common sense. In situations where other ponies would run and hide, she would giggle and march straight on towards her doom. It also doesn't help that the ponies who raised her were a group of slightly insane mercenaries, so her social skills are miserable too. Through her upbringing, she also never learend to respect laws or rules and sees them more as guidelines than anything else. Such, she never thinks of her stealing or robbing as a crime, more of a kind donation to herself.
Furthermore, Ka-Boom never learned to read or to write and thinks of letters just as silly markings that only the smartests of ponies can translate into words. Whenever she would need to sign something, she just doodles some random runes onto the paper, hoping that it would be enough.
Her last fault would indeed be her eye. As it sometimes goes completely out of focus, Ka-Booms vision splits up into two pictures which quickly leads to her having strong headaches and trouble moving around. If she is in such a state, she sometimes begins to panic and see things that aren't really there.
Equipment: Being the bubbly, quick to act pony she is, Ka-Boom barely carries around anything with her. What she is taking with her though is a bag of bits which she stores hidden in her mane. Along with that, she nearly always has at least one or two tiny bombs in there as well, either because she forgot about them or because she thought they could be useful later.
History: Close to nothing is known about her real family. Ka-Booms or back then, Short Fuses story began in Dodge City, born into a family of miners. But fate had planned something entirely else for her. Just a few weeks after being born, she got abducted. Her mother had been out in the town with her tiny pegasus filly, when suddenly a masked unicorn smashed into the mare, grabbed the sleeping filly and teleported away far enough to make his espace.
Originally, the unicorn had planned to sell the filly for a ransom back to the family but, to his misfortune, he had teleported right in the middle of a meeting of a local mercenary group that was happening at that moment right outside the town. He spend a whole of 5 seconds staring at them before he got knocked out and tied up. As the first hit struck the unicorns head, the filly went flying right into one of the mercenaries trailer wagons and stayed in there, undetected by the mares and stallions that belonged to the group.
It wasn't until much later in the day, when the group had already traveled far away from Dodge City that she was spotted, playing around with some of the items in the back of the wagon. Said items were chemicals and highly explosive substances. It was also on that day that Quick Shot, the leader of the mercenary group heard the sentence "There is a little filly, trying to kill us all!" for the first, but certainly not the last time.
The situation was quickly solved by throwing a cookie into the back of the wagon which was enough distraction for the filly so somepony could pick her up and get her away from the explosives. But nopony knew what to do with the filly now. She surely didn't belong to any of them and they had no idea how she could have snuck into their group without being detected. They decided to take her with them to the next town where they surely would give her to the authorities and let them handle this.
About ten years later, she still traveled around Equestria with them and helped out inside the group by cooking, doing little things for the mares and stallions around her and creating explosives. This may have been a strange task for a ten years old filly but no one in the camp would dare to deny that she was the best when it came to assembling the dangerous objects. Even with her lazy eye.
Finding out her special talent was explosives wasn't hard for the filly. The day she got her cutie mark, the whole camp had felt the explosion and saw the smoke rising from one of their wagons. Right in front of the wagon, they found Ka-Boom, strongly burned and singed in a lot of areas but with a completely crazy, wide smile on her face. In addition to that, this day also marked the day of the first mentioning of her name. Before, all the ponies had called her "Little one" or "Silly filly".
To honor the name she was given by the ponies now, she decided to have the words "Ka-Boom" tatooed into her cutie mark a few years later, resulting in the appereance of her cutie mark she has to this day.
When she hit the age of 13, she had learned most of what she could learn from the mercenaries around her. She knew how to use and care for various weapons, was able to discuss terms for contracts and jobs for the mercenaries (turns out sending a cute filly with a lazy eye makes the ponies pay a little more) and even how to seduce and woo others to her advantage, even though no mare of the group would ever confirm to have teached her anything like that.
5 Years: Work has been as good as never before when the war had started. As Quick Shot had always said to her whenever the two of them had taken up a new contract and were on their way back to the group "There's a guarantee that you will never go broke as a mercenary. Because at the end of the day, as long as there are at least two ponies alive in Equestria, somepony is gonna want somepony else dead."
Ka-Boom was never able to figure out what exactly that meant, but she always knew it must have been something smart. And Quick Shot surely was the smartest of them all. He was their leader and so she trusted him with whatever he said and did.
Not much else happened to her in the 5 years of the war. Ka-Boom stayed in the group and helped where she could, always trying to learn more and refining her skills with explosives. She eventually began to tag along with some of the mercenaries on their jobs, keeping their butts out of danger from behind or gathering some information for them.
Her 18th birthday was also her last day with the group. She had planned to leave the group eventually to find her own path and place in the world and her birthday seemed as good as any other day. So she spend one last evening drinking, talking and singing with her life long friends before splitting up with them somewhere near Appleloosa.
These days, she does her jobs and contracts alone, spending her time with testing out new explosives or trotting wherever the paths would lead her.
