Name: Strong Defense
Nickname: I don't know if this counts, but ponies call me Strong for short.
Age: 25
Gender: Stallion
Species: Unicorn
Place of Birth: Canterlot
Where I live now: Well, the last time I saw my house it was buried under a ton of rubble and on fire, so there's that.
Occupation: Why I'm in the Royal Guard. To be exact I'm in a Lunar Guard Special forces unit... It still counts even if Luna is MIA...right?
Allegiance: If you can't tell from my occupation, well...Oh Goddesses, am I out of a Job!?!?
Relationship Status: Why do you ask? ...do you see something you like?
...Ok Ok, I am "single"... What?!
Mane: Ok - so it's a deep, bright blue, a little on the short side but still shaggy. I don't think I've had a haircut in... What month is it again?
Eyes: They're brown but with an amber tinge to them.
Coat: It's gray...what do you want me to say? ...Ok fine, I'll tell you the story. One day while I was out on a mission with my Squad my armor got severely damaged and the camouflage spell in my armor malfunctioned, and now I am gray... permanently. I was a nice golden blonde just like my mom and now I am GRAY!!! I am only 25 years old and I have Gray hair!!!
Living Relatives: My mother's name is Golden Shield, she's MIA. My father is Vanilla Parfait and my little sister is named Pastel Dream.
Skills: So besides my Guard training standard and specialized. I'm commanding officer of the Lunar Guard special forces. I'm technically a captain, even if I'm not "The Captain" of the Lunar Guard. My special talent is in defensive magic - oh, and I am not a half bad cook. I have my only fighting style though it's pretty poor on offense. I'm an alpha class battle mage with a high amount of energy.
Faults: So I'm really bad with weapons. I mostly carry around my sword for show. On to of all that I suck a hoof to hoof combat. True I have my own fighting style, but you don't throw punches or kicks in it. With out my magic I'm just shit in a fight. I don't have any pony anymore. I've lost my friends, family, and princess. I just don't know want to do with myself anymore.
Magic and spells:
first there are shield spells. There is low, medium, and high grade shields. All shields can block any type of physical attack, be it mundane or magical in nature. Attacks on the mind are unaffected, however any attack that can cause physical harm can be stopped. An example would be if a mental attack that would cause physical harm, shields could be used on it. On the other hoof if the attack only caused mental harm the shields could not be used. Shields can be moved around at Strong's will. Their size and shape are determined by Strong at time of cast, with a increase of energy cost with larger shields. Strong can have multiple shields up at the same time, but there is a increase in concentration required to control multiple shields equal to the number of shields. An average trained soldier base power in scale to Strong's shields is low grade. An example of this is an average soldier base attack is equal to a low power blow, but their stronger attack can be as high as medium. The strong the opponent the more likely their base is higher.
Low grade shields are very fast and cost a very small amount of energy, but they can not take a lot of hits. The most a low grade shield can take is 5 medium to low strength blows before breaking. A high powered blow will be stopped, but the shield will break right away.
Medium shields are about normal speed and can take stronger blow before breaking. The medium grade shields cast is a little more then a low and they can take up to 10 blow of high, low, or medium strength blows, depending on the number and strength of the blows. A good example is 10 medium blows or 20 low powered blows.
High grade shields are slower to make then medium shields, but much stronger. A high shield can take up to 20 high powered blows, please see the example in medium shields. The energy cast is a decent amount, but overly taxing.
Perfect Shields: (experimental) They have the speed of low grade with the strength of high, but unlike both they do not break after a number of blows. Perfect shields simply draw more energy as they take blows. They will continue to drain form strong's energy pool until the spell ends or there is no more energy left to stop attacks.
Warding spells: Warding spells come in a number of types and strengths. The types are mental and physical, and the strengths are low, medium, and high. Unlike shields wards are placed on a pony and stay with them until the energy in the spells are used up. Wards take a minute for low, 5 for medium, and 10 for high grade to be cast. A pony can have both mental and physical wards, but not low and high of the same type. The cost of wards are similar to, but slightly higher then shields of the same strength. Like shields they work against both normally and all magical attacks.
Magic armor: (experimental non-castable) Strong only has a handful of ideas about this spell.
Bubble shield: The bubble spell is like Strong's shields, but the cost is doubled. A bubble is centered around Strong and moves with him. Unlike like shields the grade is determined by the size of the bubble. A low grade bubble will surround only Strong, medium will surround Strong and up to 2 to 3 others, and high up to a group as large as 10. A bubble's strength is equal to a high grade shield. Bubbles also protect form both physical and mental attacks. Like shields they work against both normally and all magical attacks. They cast at normal speed.
Huge bubble: (experimental) Similar to the spell placed around canterlot by shining armor at the Royal wedding. It is 5 times as strong as a normal bubble but it's case is extremely large and cast time take a full 30 minutes to prep. The spell is centered around the spot the spell was cast. The spell can be repaired by the caster if it is not fully broken, by feeding more energy into it. Repairing takes no prep time and the effects are immediate.
Experimental spells are spells that Strong can cast, but not with the ease in which he casts his normal spell. They are still new or not yet completed and require more effort to use. All of Strong's defensive magic works against normal and magical attack regardless of the type of attack, unless otherwise stated.
Fighting style:
Strong's fighting style is completely non-lethal and magically based. It uses defensive stances and telekinesis to stop opponents. Using the stances to dodge and block some attack is half the style. The other half is using telekinesis to push and pull your opponents. An example is pull an opponent's legs out from under them. As this fighting style relies on the user's telekinetic spells one needs magic to use it. Also as it is only applying force to your opponent a strong opponent can ignore or fight against. The most this fighting style can do offensively is to knock the wind out of or render an opponent unconscious. Strong's opponent needs to be in a weaken state for a blow to knock someone out.
Equipment: I got my saddlebags, bedroll, canteen, rope, tarp, couple days worth of field rations, sword, a picture of my squad receiving some reward from Luna, and my armor (Armor is now destroyed)
History: So this is the part where I'm going to tell you all about me, my hopes and dreams, what it was like growing up... so on. Okay then, where do I begin?
Why not tell everypony more about my family... you know just to start us off with, sound good? My father is a chef, he makes the some of the best food I have ever had in my life. His name Vanilla Parfait and he is an earth pony, also his cooking lessons are pretty much the only reason I'm not starving right now. Pastel Dream is my adorable little sister. She is a lot younger then I am like by a good 12 years... I know right, but my parents had me when they were pretty young. Dad is 45 and, you didn't hear it from me, my mom is 42... No seriously, if you ever meet her she's 38, you got that? Just trust me when I say it will make your life a lot easier if you don't bring up her age, ok? ...good. Now getting back to the point here - my mom is a Unicorn just like me. Also she's in the Royal Guard and so was her mom and her mom and her mom, we are talking 6 no... 7... 10 generations. The number isn't important, ok? I am actually the first stallion in my family to ever join the Guard. You can take that gender stereotypes!!! So that is my family in a nutshell.
Now what should we talk about next, let's see, let's see... Oh I know, how about I tell you all about how I got my Cutie Mark? That will definitely be a good one.
So the story starts with me and my classmates...or should it be my classmates and I... It doesn't matter. So like I was saying before I so rudely interrupted myself. My classmates and I were on a field trip to the forest, you know the one just a little ways off from the Canterlot cliffs... you don't? Ok, OK, just trust me on this, there is a forest around there I think maybe... definitely. So we were in this forest and some of the kids ran off on their own... and I don't know how they managed to do it but they did... they started a rock-slide. Let me say that one more time for you, they started a goddesses damned rock-slide!!! And of course this disaster wouldn't be complete without it going straight for half the class. So what happened next you may ask? Why, I'll tell you - while my classmates did the smart thing and ran away from the falling rocks of doom... I, being the brave, fearless, handsome, idiot that I was, ran straight for it with my horn a glow and absolutely no plan at all. Somehow I managed to cast a shield spell just in time. The first of many shields I would cast in my life. I keep the shield up long enough for everypony to get to safety. As a matter of fact, I held my shield up so long that I went through what is known as "magical burnout". If you've never gone through burnout before, then good for you, try to keep it that way because it hurts... a lot. When I finally woke up, I found myself in the nurse's office. My head was pounding and my mom was standing over me with a look that seemed to be a mixture of anger and pride, it was a very confusing expression. I was not sure if I should've been scared or full of pride at that moment. I settled on both since it seem to be confusing emotions day. When she was finally done yelling at me for being such a brave little idiot... that was when we noticed that I had gotten my Cutie Mark - a shield with a heart on it. So that's how I got my Cutie Mark. I know, I know, you want to know about the Royal Guard thing, I am getting there. Someponies, am I right or am I right and... Give me a minute and I'll think of something...I will! Just...not right now.
OK, so little bit after the whole Cutie Mark thing I got enrolled in the Academy. The Academy is basically like school except everypony there is training to join the Guard someday. There's not a lot to say about my time at the Academy, it was pretty standard. You know school, training, doing things behind the gym that I may or may not have been entirely old enough to be doing... with that cute redhead from math class. By the time I finally get out the Academy and joined the Royal guard, the Summer Sun Celebration was just a couple months away. Yeah I think we can see where this is going.
So just going to jump forward a couple months because we all know that story already. Princess Luna was back from her banishment on the moon and I was guarding some door in the palace. The contents behind said door were surely too mind-boggling for mere mortals to comprehend....what? Well...anyway, while I was guarding said door valiantly, I might add, who should I see walking up to me? None other than the princess of the night herself! When she got up to me she looked me straight in the eye and said, and I quote, "Guardsman, we require thee to escort us to thy chamber which our sister does hold court." Now you need to understand that this is the first time I had even seen Luna, let alone actually having her speak to me...me! Let me be 100% clean here, Princess Luna was speaking to me, not some invisible guy standing next to me but me, this guy.
So, understandably, I was a little stunned, star struck, and able to die happy at that very moment. So... I may or may not have found it a little difficult to respond. On the bright side, as result of this I got to witness probably one of the most adorable things in all of existence. Luna then looked to the side and ever so quietly with the cutest little cough said "We are still unfamiliar with our sister's new palaces and require assistance in locating the throne room... so if you would be ever so kind as to show us the way..." I thought to myself, now Strong, this is the Princess, it does not matter just how amazing she looks or how cute that was. Be cool you got this... you are a Royal Guard after all.
Stumbling a little as I hopped to, I ever so calmly stated "Y-yes Princess Luna your majesty...your grace, r-right this way" Nailed it.
On the way back from escorting the Princess of the night, I couldn't get her off my mind. That flowing star filled mane, those long slender legs, and her gorgeous azure eyes... what? Ok, fine. Maybe I had a "little" bit of a crush on Princess Luna... I am a stallion after all... and she was just so so... amazing... can you really blame me? So as soon as I was done with my shift I went straight to apply for a transfer to the Lunar Guard, and that as they say even if in this case I was the I one saying it, is history.
5 year summary:
So you really want me to talk about this don't you...ok, ok...ok I can...I can do this it just talking no big deal. Oh goddesses where do I even begin...
Maybe you should start with those friends of yours. You know, the ones you let-
You Shut the Buck Up!!! ... good... good...yeah maybe I should tell you about them... I think I would like that a nice story about squad. I got my transfer to the Lunar Guard and for a while it was a lot like when I was in the Solar Guard but, with more night shifts... you know, "guard this door", "watch that yard", and training, always training. I did get to see Luna a little more... ok not "see" see more like see her walking down the halls and stuff like that. You know, the little things that would make my day a little bit brighter... but, I guess in this case it would be my night right? ...yeah ok, so things went on like that for some time. Sure, from time to time there'll be a monster attack or something like that and I get to do some real guarding... keeping ponies safe... I mean it's not just my special talent; I really do want to keep everypony safe. Eventually all that hard work started to pay off. I got myself placed into a very special training program. My mom was so proud when she found out about it. It was in that very program that I meet 4 amazing ponies that one day would become my future squad mates and the best friends a stallion could ask for.
There was Frontal Assault, a mountain of an earth pony stallion. Frontal was the definition of an unstoppable force. If he met an enemy line it would break and, with me supporting him with my magic... let's just say their lines were not the only things that would break. I will never be able to forget the sound of cracking chitin. Now don't go around thinking that Frontal was all blood, piss, and vinegar... I mean, he was that too but, take him off the battlefield and he was the nicest guy you could meet, he liked bird watching for crying out loud... But if you ask me he really liked watching Geronimo's sister Soaring Feather.
Geronimo... now he was our hot headed, rash, trigger-happy, I think you are starting to get the idea, and all around favorite Pegasus. There were so, so, many times that after telling the squad our plan of attack both Frontal and Geronimo would look me straight in the eye and ask why we weren't simply going up and hitting it till it died. Thank the goddesses for Stormy and Tender, they really were a godsend. If for nothing else but helping me keep Frontal and Geronimo in line. Not to mention when... when mom's unit come back without her and had no idea what happen to her. Stormy Night was our sneaky little thestral... she had a thing about being called a bat pony so when she was around it was thestral. She was so sneaky by the time you'd see her coming there already be a pony on your parent's front porch with a serious look on their face and folded up flag in their hooves.
Tender Loving Care was our medical unicorn, she join the guard to put herself through medical school... she didn't come from a very good home. She was always at one of our houses when we were on leave; Pastel treated her like the big sister she never had. I would tell you about her family life but that is her story to tell, not mine. The night Tender finally told us about what happen to her in that house she grew up in, let's just say that it was a very good thing that she so obviously needed us more than we needed to find that "father" of hers and show him just how terrifying the imagination of 4 elite soldiers could be.
The time we got our first mission all 5 of us walking together to the meeting room, our bond hard forged through the grueling training we had been through together, the look of shock on my face that slowly turned into a dopey grin as I found out that we would be receiving our orders from Luna herself. As soon as we were dismissed Stormy proceeded to tease me endlessly over just how obvious my infatuation with Luna was. It's nice remembering the good time... and n-not... Frontal lying there on the cold ground, blood slowly leaving his broken and twisted body. Limbs bent in ways pony legs should never go. Tender using her hooves to hold her stomach, stopping her vital organs from slipping out the large gash from an enemy weapon that I could have stopped if my shields weren't busy striking down enemy after enemy. The shield I should have used to block the attack on her used instead to stop a sword that was going in between my armor from piercing my heart. Tender, she... she could have used her magic to close her wound but then she would have had to stop trying to pump life back into Frontal broken body. The tears running down her face, fighting desperately against the hopelessness of the situation, not caring about her own life, only working her hardest to stop one of her real family from dying. Seeing Geronimo falling through the shimmering haze of my shields flaring to life all around me... just to slow, to stop that bolt of dark energy from hitting him in the chest as he came out of that aerial turn.
I could barely feel the burning sensation of all my numerous wounds that I had let through my shields so as to try to keep my friends alive. I was long past being able to do anything but defend at this point. Stormy taking that spear to the throat as she was fighting her way to Geronimo's side as he was being swarmed from all sides, unable to get airborne again... the fall having broken his right wing, bone sticking out of the bloody flesh. That was when I...I.
You stop holding back my little toy soldier.
No I-I didn't want. I didn't...mean to.
But you did. You let them all die because you were too weak to keep them safe.
P-please... stop.
You can run for now, my little toy soldier, but you will come back to me. To serve me once again. Do not keep me waiting too long.
I woke in a cold sweat. I could hear screaming it took me over 10 seconds to realize that it was coming from my own mouth. Pulling a picture out of my saddlebags I look down to see most of the ponies that I care for the most in this world. There is Luna presenting us with a reward for valor, me still my old golden haired self with that love struck look that I seemed to always have on my face when I looked at Luna. Frontal and Tender, big smiles on their faces. Stormy and Geronimo trying not to laugh at the look on my face. As lost, alone, and hopeless as I felt, I couldn't give up. No, I would keep fighting for them no matter how bad it hurt. I was going to save Luna and make everything right again. I had no idea how, but I was going to do it.
Hi everypony thanks for read I hope you like it and to see you in the forum.
