Name: Astral Midnight
Nickname: Astral
Age: 25
Gender: Stallion
Species: Pegasus
Place of Birth: Cloudsdale
Occupation: A beggar
Allegiance: Neutral
Relationship Status: Single
Mane: Mildly long, very messy. Mostly black with occasional streaks of grey, along with small spots of white
Eyes: Very light blue, nearly grey
Living Relatives: Unknown
General Description: His coat is a very dark blue, nearly black. He never was a very bulky stallion, as his lifestyle wouldn't allow it. His time in the Everfree Forest didn't help that much either, though it did allow his muscles to develop and become quite noticeable at a glance.
Skills: He can predict a creature's actions, to a degree. He is very aware of his surroundings, and can usually escape a fight. He's also fairly good at talking his way out of confrontations.
Faults: He is clumsy in the air. He can be bought. He isn't much of a fighter. If his escape attempt fails during a fight, he will usually just surrender then. If he does decide to try and fight, his attacks are extremely weak, if they even hit the opponent, that is. He is quite emotionally torn up, and extremely sensitive to certain topics.
Equipment: His bag, which can hold seemingly endless amounts of money, but no other objects larger than, say, a rabbit (see bottom for current contents).
His cloak, which he is rarely seen without. When he lifts the hood of it, he is granted almost total invisibility. However, Alicorns, Changelings, and Bat Ponies can see him even with it on (In that order, as to what can see him easiest. Bat Ponies can only just barely make him out among his surroundings while Alicorns can see him as though it doesn't work at all). Unicorns that know a spell that grants them vision at night can also see him as if he were shining brighter than the sun. During the day, if anypony were to look hard enough, they could make out his figure, as the objects behind him appear to bend and warp just slightly. This ability lasts for a maximum of 6 hours a day, resetting at midnight every day. It also completely silences all sounds he makes, except for his voice.
History: After being abandoned at an age before he can remember, Astral lived on the streets of Cloudsdale as a beggar. He and a few other young colts had met each other because of this. Among this group, Astral was the second youngest. As he and his friends grew, times got harder. After countless years of putting their daily earnings together in hopes of buying some food, Cloudsdale decided to clean up its streets. This meant trouble for the group.
After getting kicked out of Cloudsdale, the group decided to try their luck in Canterlot. This desicion proved to be a good one. Upon arriving, they were greeted with welcoming smiles and a fair share of empathy-inticed bits. They continued to live this way for a year or so, and then finally had enough to buy a house for all of them to live in. it was at this point that the group began to break up. Most of the stallions went to join the Royal and Lunar Guards. Astral and 3 others were left alone...
When money ran short, they were forced to leave their home. Astral and his friends grew an almost brotherly bond with each other. They decided that all they needed was each other, and that was enough to last them 5 years. One day, they decided to go and explore the Everfree Forest. They felt they were prepared, so they set out and never looked back.
A year passed, the four stallions had survived on their own in unmapped parts of the Everfree Forest. At some point along the way, Astral had noticed this piece of cloth hanging from a tree. When he put it on, he discovered its magical power. Total invisibility. His friends decided to let him keep it, since he had no weapons, scavenging skills, or anything else particularly useful. Plus, it was black, so it fit him better than the others. He never really considered how useful that cloak could be, until the night it was needed most.
The group had just settled down to camp for the night, when the sound of a pack of timberwolves nearby shook them. After a brief moment of panic, the group decided that they were safe for the night. They couldn't have been more wrong. Not long after they had all fallen asleep, the timberwolves attacked. Luckily, they managed to escape. While his friends were fighting, Astral managed to slip out undetected thanks to his cloak. Soon after, the group was reunited.
Not long after the attack, the group decided to go home. When they got within visual range of Canterlot, they were meeted with a gruesome sight. Nopony in the group knew exactly what was happening, but they all knew one thing, it wasn't safe where they stood. So they fled back to the Everfree Forest, deeper than anypony had gone before, in hopes of escaping whatever it was that they saw.
Four years later, only one stallion from the group still lived. He couldn't believe that his friends had died right in front of him. One was lost to timberwolves, another to dehydration, and the last... The last friend that Astral had watch die was the hardest for him to cope with. Had he only had a small amount more of strength, he could have saved his friend, but instead Astral's grip had slipped and his friend had plummeted to his death.. Astral could no longer stay in this place, it was too much for him to handle alone. He gathered all the money and supplies that he could find from the camp, and headed back towards what he used to call home, in hopes of finding some form of condolence there. That exact thing, he decided, was money. And he would let nothing stand in his way of it. He turned to the exact place he used to call home: Canterlot.
Pictures:
Rough pony creator version of him. His mane isn't quite right (it's missing the white spots throughout) but it's as close as I could get. I'm terrible a drawing, so.. Also, his color is a bit bright.
Cutie Mark:
A white pony outline, showing that he is invisible to the world. Earned when he figured it out for himself.
