Now abandoned once again, the old and broken building is a sanctuary to those running from the monsters within the forest.

Just how long exactly had this place been abandoned? Cash asked that question to himself every once in a while as random pieces of stone fell on a day to day basis. There were holes in the walls, practically hundreds of small creatures scattered about, not to mention nature was starting to overcome the once great structure. This made Cash feel..kind of awful. "Every time I turn the frigg' around there's something to make me feel bad. It's kinda pissing me off." He groaned as he carefully walked down the stairs into the courtyard.
He didn't want to be here in the first place, but it was the castle or the swamp, and his brother wasn't about to let Cash kill himself. Even though what they were looking for is considerably more important that them. Unfortunately, they didn't know what they were looking for. Just something that would help. An ancient magic book, some sort of artifact, ANYTHING at this point would be great. With a sigh, the mix raced stallion sat down and called to his brother. "Cammy! Guy, where are youse!?" After his voice echoed out, cash started to hear something beneath the castle. It sounded like it was coming from the cellar. But the only thing that's down there is.....no..he can't be. Cash got up and took off to a brisk trot to the cellar. "He doesn't even know how to play." He laughed.
After about fifteen minuets, Cash came out the front doors with an annoyed frown. "Friggin Cammy, with his friggin clones! Imma ring his neck!" After taking a second to calm down, Cash put a hoof to his forehead. "*sigh* So, airhead made it to the swamps, huh? Can't believe I still can't keep up with him." After scanning the area for hostiles, Cash took off to a trot to continue his search around the area.

The further Cash walked away from the castle's entrance, the more the forest itself seemed to swallow him whole. The dense, muggy air was almost a physical force pushing down on him and he could feel its weight in his chest when he took a breath. This far into the forest anywhere away from the castle held a darkness so oppressive it seemed to swallow even the few shafts of light that made it through the treetops, and it was nearly impossible to ignore the sensation that somewhere in those shadows lurked the things that went bump in the night, simply waiting for a single misstep or stumble to make their move.
The ground was soft and damp from the lack of sunlight to dry it, seeming as if it wanted to hold on to anyone traveling through and pull them down into the earth itself. Trees groaned as they shifted, and birds and other animals let their presence known as well. The forest was very much alive.

Cash let out a few coughs as he trotted further from the castle. He remembers how this felt; Loss of vision, the feeling of suffocating from the very atmosphere, everywhere you turn there was something staring back at you. It was kind of refreshing. He could be killed here if he so much as trips. Even though things around the Everfree forest has gotten considerably worse, he still finds this place to be his sanctuary. The thick fog always waiting to calm his nerves. However, given what he looked like, stopping to enjoy the scenery was pretty much asking to be killed. It's eat or be eaten here, he knew that much.
His thinking was cut off once he reached the edge of the cliff, the sound of rocks falling down just echoed throughout the area....wait a minute..."Did those rocks... actually hit something? I thought this was a bottomless pit." He carefully walked along the edge until his hoof touched something odd. As if it wasn't there originally. The spot was smooth, seemed to be carved by hoof. Upon closer inspection, they appeared to be stairs. Cash thought of going down, but the fog was so thick he might have been casually walking into a monsters mouth. So he left it alone and moved along carefully across the wooden bridge that didn't look like it could hold his weight all that well.

The sound of the rocks falling down the cliffside echoed through the thick air, though there was no way to know for anypony to know for sure if the sounds were that of them hitting the bottom or merely bouncing off the side of the abyss as they continued their downward journey. It would take a pony not very intent on returning to the top of the chasm to find out just how deep it truly was, by way of the roughly carved and only barely intact stairs that may or may not lead anywhere useful.
Of course, true to any real forest of legend, the bridge looked, sounded, and felt like the bottom would drop out from under anyone not warded off by its appearance, but it was sturdy enough to walk on...for now. The middle of the bridge couldn't be seen through all the fog, much less the other side. The faint trickle of water drifted up from below, and a very distinct predatory snarl sounded out off to the side but still underneath the bridge.

Cash let out a low whistle as he made it to the other side of the bridge. "Awright, that's done. Now, where to search next...?" Cash put a hoof to his chin as he went into thought. "I checked every inch 'a this place I could reach and I still couldn't find any magical gem." Could it be that the elements of harmony were destroyed? If so, then that would mean that going after Nightmare Moon was out of the question. As for the queen of the changelings....as much as Cash wanted to help, that would be suicide. Which leaves Sombra. If all he did was impale ponies with crystals from a distance, than Cash should be fine. Healing factor comes in handy in those situations. Besides, he couldn't bring himself to hit a mare, regardless of what they did. Ma taught him better than that. With love, and a wooden spoon to the flank.
Cash sat up and continued to venture through the forest.

(Posted in the Entrance Into Forest a while ago, were you continuing there or was this just to get your character out into the world?)
