Name: Starlight Glimme
Nickname: Bibbity Boo, the Mountain Witch
Age: Early thirties
Gender: Mare
Species: Unicorn
Place of Birth: Canterlot
Occupation: Talent Scout
Allegiance: herself
Relationship Status: Single
Living Relatives: None that are known of
General description: Starlight has a pink coat, blue eyes and a purple and grayish blue mane and tail. Her manestyle depends on her cutie mark, a side effect of her spell.
Cutie Mark: Her cutie mark shows a purple and white star with two blue glimmering streams, signifying her talent for magic. She can change her cutie mark with a spell, though, taking on a new talent in the process.
Skills: Starlight is intelligent and talented in magic, with the best education you can get from Celestia’s School For Gifted Unicorns. She is also not easy to fool, trusting nopony without good reason. She has a spell that can steal a pony’s cutie mark and replace it with an equal sign that suppresses the pony’s special talent. She has also developed a second spell to replace her own cutie mark with the ones she stole, giving her access to that special talent.
Faults: Starlight is selfish, manipulative and cunning, with little regard for her fellow ponies. Though she has her nice moments, she usually puts her own goals first and has no moral quandaries with using other ponies to reach those goals. She also has a tendency to take other ponies’ cutie marks without asking, sometimes just to make a point or because it would be convenient. She does have a certain sense of honor in that she never permanently takes a living pony’s cutie mark anymore, unless they give her very good reason to.
Equipment: Starlight doesn’t have much need for material wealth, much rather focusing on power. The only things she always carries with her beside a few bits are a small bag with magic crystals and her black scarf that can store cutie marks. Among the cutie marks she has taken permanently from dying ponies are a cutie mark of a ranger named Tony Cabins (a trail of blue reindeer hoofprints), one from a chef named Gin-San (a cutting knife and wooden spoon crossed under a white chef’s hat) and that of a young stallion, who had been facing off against Tenebris’ armies repeatedly until he was mortally wounded in the fourth year after the war (a steel shield with a lightning bolt on it, in front of an electrically charged iron spear).
Backstory: Once upon a time, there was a prodigious little unicorn filly studying at Celestia’s School For Gifted Unicorns. She was very talented and smart, the best of her class and the better to most of her professors as well. She decided to study the magic of cutie marks, but after a while some of the ignorant ponies around her began to get scared of her… Telling her that she was delving into the fields of dark magic and that she should give up on her studies and <b>abandon everything she had worked for! Calling her megalomaniacal, corrupt and mentally unstable! Ehehrmm... So the little unicorn, being smarter and kinder than them all, decided to leave the school and all those closedminded ponies. And certainly not because they kicked her out and almost arrested her for using untested spells on her classmates. She found a nice place where she could start over, far away from Canterlot, and convinced a few traveling ponies to join her new community, a paradise where everypony was equal. Well, maybe the little unicorn was a little more equal than them, who could blame her. Then a new princess came around with her five toadies and once again everything the little unicorn had worked for was broken apart. She spent months alone in the mountain caves, brooding and perfecting her spells, developing new theories and practicing her magic. And while she was in that cave, unbeknownst to her karma struck and the new princess, the ponies in Canterlot and everypony else were hit by war and disaster. One day a new group of ponies found her cave, informing her of what had happened and that they had rebuilt her village to live there. Their leader did something moderately smart and saw through her attempts to grow a new cult around her, not that she cared much about that anymore. And then their leader did something moderately stupid and asked her to join them. And then he asked again the next week. And then the week after that. And then again and again until she finally went down into town with them just so he would shut up. As it turned out, the leader wasn’t just trying to goad her into something but had actually found a way to put her abilities to a productive use. Taking away ponies’ cutie marks and suppressing their special talents for a while, she could help them to rediscover just what their special talents were and tie a new, stronger bond with it. She was taught a spell or two and made herself a fancy new scarf that could store cutie marks for her. She even convinced a few dying ponies that she could take their cutie marks to keep up their legacy beyond their death. Through all that, she never did move into the town, though. She stayed in her cave, earning the title of “Mountain Witch”. She also took on a new name in case anyone was still looking for her and trying to throw Starlight Glimmer into a dungeon; “Bibbity Boo”, born from an old breezy tale and an off remark about how it was always better to be underestimated than overestimated.
