For those who are traveling far and wide, a hotel is stationed for their needs. Do not fret if noises are the only things you may hear in the middle of the night however.

(Enter Steel Soul)
"Well...there it is Ruby. The place we were told about."
Despite the cheerful tone of the brown furred stallion's voice as he did his best to up sale the establishment, the building known as the Restless Inn was dreary any way one would look at it. Steel Soul gave the filly that laid upon his back a cheerful smile. "Well Red...What do you think. Better then sleeping out in the rain or a cold old cave right. Bet it has a proper bed and everything...Maybe even a free breakfast if we are lucky, eh?" Though he knew each of those things sounded good in his ears, Steel couldn't help shiver slightly as he looked back upon the building. It didn't feel wrong per say. Just...Unsettling a bit. Maybe it had something to do with the fact it was near the ruins of the Canterlot Empire, a fact that he was still trying to wrap his head around.
"Well shall we go in and get some rest for tonight?" He asked, turning to his daughter.

[Enter Ruby Soul with Steel Soul]
The young, sky blue coated pegasus filly nodded her head quietly to her father's question. She wrapped her forehooves around his neck gingerly, securing herself closer to him as she looked up at their soon to be shelter for the night.
She didn't quite like it, but it was warm inside... hopefully. Honestly, she had slept in worse places than this, but none had been quite as spooky as this one. Something about this place just seemed off to her. Something made the hackles on the back of her neck rise ever so slightly, warning her of danger.
"Okay daddy," she spoke quietly after a few more seconds of silence, her voice soft and demure as she continued to stare up at the inn.

With his daughter's approval edging him on, Steel would make his way towards the inn, the sound of an aproching thunderstorm looming behind the duo.
Inside, Steel could see that the inn really did need some TLC, though it wasn't as bad as what he had once thought. It actually looked kind of homey in that...Well...old pony's home kind of way. The subtle scent of old oak filled nearly all of his senses.Looking around the establishment, Steel could see a few ponies scattered here or there, even a changeling or two if his eyes weren't playing tricks on him.
"Looks like Shin was right..." He muttered softly to himself. With a sigh he turned to his daughter. "Room sound good? Then we find something to eat?"

The filly nodded once more, her eyes quickly moving from one part of the inn to another. One second it was focused on the closest being to them, and the next it was focusing on the ceiling. Her eyes didn't leave one thing in her view unobserved, as she silently took in her surroundings.

Steel had made his way to the counter, talking to the stallion behind it. After some time, Steel would be carrying an old set of keys in his hoof, nodding with satisfaction. "Room 101. Heh...Kind of...Back to the basics, eh Red?" He would say, snickering softly at his now apparent joke.

"Mhm," the filly hummed in agreement of her father's statement while she thought back on the stallion behind the counter. She didn't exactly think he was bad, but... something about him seemed off. She couldn't put her hoof on it.

Steel would bid the stallion goodnight before making his way to the room. After fumbling with the keys, the door would open revealing their living space for the night. The amount of happiness upon Steel's expression was severely lacking to say the least. There was a bed in one corner of the room while the rest seemed to be filled with the kitchen like area. On the other side of the room was a door which he believed led to the bathroom.

Ruby once again sat silently on her father's back while he led them into their room for the night. She examined the kitchen with no real interest, her eyes roaming over the area briefly before they moved over to the bed in the opposite corner. On instinct, her withers slumped and she seemed to slouch a little bit as her mind lulled itself into a small, trance like state of sleep preparation.

Steel looked back at his daughter as he felt her slump over on his back, a smile of parental understanding creeping upon his features.
"Getting a little sleepy Red?" He would ask, his hooves instently moving to make his way to the nearby bed.

"Mhm," Ruby mumbled softly.
(Short post is short but I can't really think of much to do here.)

The stallion nodded before reaching back and slipping her into his fore hooves. "Right. Better get ready for bed. We move on to Canterlot City tomorrow." He told her, giving the filly a gentle nuzzle.

"Right, daddy," Ruby said tiredly before returning the nuzzle. After a second of silence, however, she looked back up to her father and spoke up.
"Daddy? Why are we going to Canterlot, again?"

"To find mommy Ruby." Steel told her, pulling the covers back, looked at the bed, and decided that he would take his chances on the couch nearby. "It where she said she was last heading so its best to start there right? Remember mommy honey?"

"A little," Ruby replied quietly to her father. "She was really nice... are we going to see mommy again?"

A knock could soon be heard coming from their door as a small almost whisper like voice called forth from the other side into the hallway. Standing at the entrance of their room, an extremely pale white old mare had been waiting with a basket in hoof. Old and fragile by the looks of her frail and bony body, the pony's once brightly colored mane was now nothing more then a grey aftermath as she awaited an answer. Waiting to knock again, a smaller bump to the door was given.
"Excuse me..."

Steel blinked, slightly surprised by the random knock at the door. Slowly, the stallion made his way to the door, allowing his sheathed sword to slip easily into his fetlock as he did so. Ever so gently, after reaching the door, he would allow it to open up a crack allowing just enough of his face to be shown.
"Hello?" He would asked, raising an eyebrow at the mare, though with only half his face showing it looked like he was slightly surprised to see her. "Can I help you ma'am?"

The frail pale old mare had stared up at the stallion with a warm and helpful smile. From the brief color and appearance through the cracked door, a basket had appeared to be lifted up as a sign of hospitality.
"So sorry, complimentary food for the hurt hearts of today... So sorry for your loss." As if knowing something through the talk of the undead, the old short mare had changed from a warm smile to a saddened and emotional expression. She was not so much the best welcoming employee, but she was giving them a basket of apples and other vegetables that they could spare for staying there.

"How did..." he trialed off before looking away. He wasn't too sure about the old lady and how she knew about why he was here, though she did seem harmless enough. Steel shook his head before opening the door a little wider. Gently, he griped the basket before giving her a warm smile. "Thank you ma'am."

"Beware.. Beware of the living, for the dead cannot hurt you."
Nodding and happy to see a warm face in a place of the dead, the old mare simply turns to walk away. The day seemed like any other for this pony's work. Except this time, the spirits were in high demand. Something was going to go down, but where? Seemingly gone from their door in a matter of minutes, the frail mare had a ghost like essence about her, their time here was not yet over, it was clear.

Steel frowned as she left, the old mares words ringing hard within his mind. Slowly, he would close the door, making sure to pull the bolts over the latch as he did so.
