The walls have been covered in marble, the ceiling tiled, and the wood floored. After a while, crystals can become an eye-sore, so King Sombra had the royal dining room renovated to fit a more -- classy taste. Several stone busts of King Sombra are decorated throughout the room.

[Enter King Sombra and Nightmare Moon]
Upon entering the dining room they Sombra and Nightmare would notice an already made feast. Sombra was pretty infamous in his kitchen about his hatred for waiting for his food to be cooked, so guards normally passed down orders to the kitchen before he arrived so that way there wouldn't be any yelling or beheading. As much as he enjoyed violence the Mad King also enjoyed sitting down to eat in peace. As they stepped closer to the table they would see the feast was well thought out and displayed, nearly spanning the entire table. The meat was cooked to perfection, the vegetables boiled, and the fruits juicy as possible. It was fairly obvious the King Sombra kept some of the best cooks in all of Equestria in his castle, that and they didn't seem to mind being there.
Sombra pulled out a chair for himself at the head of the table eyeing the food and licking his chops, he was already imagining eating his delectable food. He cast a gaze to Nightmare a with a faint smile across his lips. "Enjoy as much as you'd like, if you desire more or anything else for that matter please help yourself. Though if you decide you just want to feed off fear I'm sure I can bring a slave up"

The night mare took in the room's scene with a scowl. Of course, her seemingly perpetual expression was a scowl so nothing about her seemed terribly different. Seeing the lengths that some went to to keep Sombra appeased put a curious thought in her mind; there were obviously those who may not have begrudged the "ruler" his position, no matter the means of his taking it. Regardless though, the fact remained that his penchant for being dramatic and waited on pointed to the indisputable fact that Sombra was still a big softie.
"You truly have no grasp of my power, do you?" she asked, allowing a slight edge of amusement into her voice but mostly maintaining it as a serious question. "I will partake in your...admittedly barbaric level of sustinence. But I press that we came here for a reason that I do not intend to be distracted from." She sat at the table as well, choosing a location that allowed her a view of the others in the room as well as the entrance. She idly lifted a piece of fruit in her magic, hoping that it would be the least changed from its original state.

"Trust me Nightmare, I have not intentions of distracting us from that damned pest. I merely am hosting this meal because the time I come from it was a form of respect to host a meal for your honored guests. Whether or not that guest was invited to their palace. So what I'm saying is, I'm offering you my mutual respect." King Sombra scoffed internally, what a shame a mare such as this forget such simple terms of respect.
"You may call it barbaric, but I still enjoy the taste of a good meal and a full stomach to go along with it. It's one of the few leisurely things I allow myself in times such as these." King Sombra took a few bites of his steak and then motioned for all the ponies in the room to leave quickly.
After they had left the room he looked to the very mare of nightmares in front of him. "As I said earlier as much as I enjoy the whole "Mad King" thing I'm far from insane. After all, it takes some amount of knowledge to seize an entire kingdom by yourself. Though insanity does seem to keep the ponies of this kingdom afraid of me and if it works I'm not about to change it."

Calculating eyes watched him as he explained his immediate intentions, satisfied that she wouldn't be swayed by some foolish mind game and distracted from her goal. She offered him a curt nod to acknowledge what he said. It had been a long time since she had any more than surface interactions with the others who had facilitated the downfall of the Princesses, and from what she knew of them trust in them was something that would need to be earned. "I...appreciate the thought," she said honestly. She took a small, experimental bite from the fruit, as if it could bite her back if she weren't careful.
Her interest was piqued when Sombra motioned for all the staff to leave the room;such a move could be potentially dangerous in known or unknown company, and having no contact with the stallion since the war didn't place much hope in the first category. She fixed him with watchful eyes.
"Fear can be quite helpful, I will certainly attest to that. What are you driving at? Chrysalis knows full well your capabilities and I would not expect her to fall to the act no matter what other common ponies may do or say."

"Yes, while that maybe so I think we do have one thing to our advantage. We basically let that pest rule Equestria on her own, without any opposition. Due to her time on the throne she has become smug thinking she is all powerful, because of that she thinks she is stronger than us. Merely because we let her have a bigger plot of land to live on. What she doesn't count on is we are smarter and stronger than her. You say she knows my capabilities, while that maybe true I think I speak for all of us when I say I'm certain we are hiding an aspect of our power from each other to gain some sort of trump card to use later on. Thing is, that mare being in the public's eye has used most if not all of her abilities." Sombra continued eating his meal, it would be clear to the mare of nightmares that Sombra just wanted to clear the rooms so others wouldn't change their opinions of him.
Waiting for the mares calculated retort Sombra enjoyed his delicate meal whilst brooding over a couple of thoughts. Nightmare is without a doubt in his mind one of the most powerful beings on this realm. She is not something to be trifled with. While he had been around for a long while, she had been along longer. She was more of a primordial power, after all she ponykinds nightmare. He didn't strive to take her on no, he wanted to concrete a friendship between the two. Though knowing that probably wouldn't work he'd settle for allies in 'evil'. He internally smirked at the thought.

She placed the piece of fruit on a plate on the table, managing to choke down the too-sweet piece that she'd bitten off without showing a reaction. Such an awful habit this was. "Believe me, Sombra, she knows quite well that if it came to fighting betwixt us that she would be presented a challenge far greater than that given in our war. While it is true that you and I both hold great stores of power, so too does Chrysalis, and she has not grown quite so soft as you may believe. While she is comfortable with more amenities than we have, she has grown her forces and established rule just the same as she has grown her physical reach."
This conversation had turned towards exactly what Nightmare Moon feared. Both of them hinting at the extent of their abilities with neither outright discussing facts, and facts are what she dealt in, not assumptions. Remaining as polite as she could bring herself to be, she took a breath and let it out through her nose before her studying gaze turned back to the stallion at the head of the table. "The simple truth is this; that she has garnered power, resources, and even respect from the ponies of the land, and if we are to attempt to disrupt that we must be clear with each other. I ask you now, how confident are you that what you can do is enough to significantly hurt her? Were you willing to engage in such a plan it only helps to know what we have at our disposal."

(Can I just say, when the hay did I get 151 posts on Sombra?)
Sombra lets out a soft sigh, it's understandable that the mare before him would want to know more about his plan. While he didn't really want to tell her because he didn't completely trust her yet, he decided for their plan it was a must. Sombra set down his food slowly swallowing the last bite he had took and pushed the plate to the side. "Right, I have a few ideas. One of which is in motion now, which is turning my gladiator into a bomb. When he wins the fight and the pest goes to congratulate him I'll detonate the crystal inside of him. Hopefully it'll catch her off guard, though there is always a possibility that there will be magics to nullify that spell when we are there which could be a problem. If that happens I'm sure I can convince my fighter to take her on anyways, when he was sent here it was by the pest herself. From what I can gather she sent him to me after he nearly defeat her in battle. Either way the arena is probably the opportune time to take her on."
Sombra really didn't want to reveal the extent of his power to the mare, but he'd give her a small glimpse. "As for what I can do I'm fairly certain she won't be prepared for. She's the type that doesn't do well to physical attack while I'm the type that goes great against magic. If I can get the upper hoof on her for even a moment I'm certain I can strike a killing blow, even if I'd rather trap and torture her."

(New goal: 151...THOUSAND)
Listening to Sombra's words left Nightmare with slightly narrowed eyes. "You plan to sacrifice one of your own to our end? And here I'd thought you'd gotten too respectful of these vermin. I should think such a tactic would certainly grant the element of surprise, though such an act alone would doubtlessly not be enough to bring her end," she pondered. "We would need both our forces ready to take advantage of the shock without giving our intentions away before the moment."
She nodded slowly to think of his strengths and weaknesses. "Death often seems to be the easy, perhaps merciful end, so I find it difficult to grant her that as well. But especially with the bonds she shares with her hive, every living minute past our action could mean our failure. My gifts leave me with my strength balanced nearly entirely in magic, thus while it may be possible for me to hold her against that, the uncertainty does not entice me. Rarely do I concern myself with such events as this fight you speak of. When is it to be held?"

"Ah the fight it's self isn't too far away from what I am grasping from her, thought the exact date hasn't quite been revealed to me." Sombra has nodded to himself as Nightmare revealed her strengths to him, and a tad of her weakness.
"As for those vermin, I don't respect them in such a way where I might value their lives so highly not to use them as a sacrificial pawn. As for the Queen of the pests I think you are entirely correct. Death maybe a to quick of a mercy for a being such as her, but we can't waste our time toying with her lest we give her an opportunity to escape." Sombra had clearly given thought to the words Nyx had spoken.

Nightmare's only response at first was a short hum to acknowledge that she had heard what Sombra said. After a few moments passed she abruptly stood. "You will know how to inform me of the event's time when you are able. Until then, preparations must be made. Farewell, crystal king."
She had already turned away when she uttered the last words so Sombra could not see the ghost of a smile that tugged at the corner of her mouth. Before he could respond she let her body fall away into a cascade of shadows that melted into those in the room. Even with a magical sense, Nightmare Moon would be gone.

Sombra nods mostly to himself after she leaves. Though with the now absence of her company he would quickly grow very bored. He gave thought for a moment on what to do and could only come up with one idea. It was time to pester the Queen Pest herself, he had to keep up social appearances after all. The king teleported himself to the Canterlot Palace.
