Name: Tarascha Terastari
Nickname: Tara, Tawa, Traveler
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Species: Earth Pony
Place of Birth: Canterlot
Occupation: Traveler/Deliver Pony and as such, travels between the big cities and little camps of Equestria, taking up delivery jobs
Allegiance: Good/Neutral, against the new authority and liked the way the princesses handled the land, but would not actually defend that opinion
Relationship Status: Single
Mane: Pure blond and long. Surprisingly though, most of the time he keeps his mane very clean and straight, even though he travels long distances alone, without any other ponies around. He cares for his tail much in the same way, trying to keep it clean from dirt and letting it grow long and fluffy.
Eyes: Bright green
Living Relatives: Possibly his mother, father or brother, this is unconfirmed
General Description: Smaller than most earth pony stallions would be, he still has the usual earth pony strength and endurance. His coat is a semi-dark grey, which serves as a quirky contrast to his bright mane. He, again, cares a lot for the state of his coat, trying to avoid getting it too filthy or dirty. Though most ponies would never know how it looks anyway, as he keeps his body hidden under a thick cloak for most of the time. The mark on his flank closely resembles a typical Rohrschach test.
As he spends most of his time alone, wandering around Equestria, he lost some of his social skills, being unsure how to act whenever he interacts with more civilized ponies, even seeming brutish while doing so. Even though he means well, he is on edge most of the time and is quick to bail out of any overwhelming situation.
At the same time, he doesnt believe that anypony is useless or talentless and always tries to learn more from anypony he meets.
He occasionally starts to hum songs from all time periods whenever he is bored or needs to ease his mind. This might also be in the middle of running away or fighting a battle.
Skills: Living in a world ravaged by war, he was forced to learn at least some defensive and offensive techniques to deal with the usual troubles one could encounter while traveling the paths of Equestria. Most of the time he tries to avoid or sweet talk his way out of the more dangerous situation, making deals or taking bargains to get away with his life. If he is forced to engage in combat, he always checks his surroundings for any possible advantages, fair or not, to win the fight or to secure his escape.
During combat, Tarascha relies on throwing weapons such as knifes or darts. This he learned, by training under a young zerba shaman he stayed with after his leg got permanently damaged. In the passing years, Tara's skill with throwing weapons got better and better, to the point where he was able to hit his targets nearly exactly where he needed. While still having trouble to hit flying or moving targets, a stationary or slow moving target is no problem.
While he lived with the zebra, Tara studied the basics and a few more advanced techniques of Alchemy under the shamans watchful eye and is able to create non-lethal poisons which he preperates some of his knifes and darts with.
The last thing Tarascha learned thanks to he shaman would be the rough basics of zebrican hoof to hoof combat. This melee fighting style is barely used by Tara though, thanks to the disadvantage his crooked leg would provide him with.
Furthermore he sharpened his senses while outside of pony civilazation and had learned the basics about first aid and psycholigy even before the war started.
Faults: The most obvious fault or disadvantage Tarascha has, would be his permanently crooked right back leg. He once broke his leg during the early days of his travels and without any professional medical care, it never healed the right way. Even though he has learned to manage just fine without the full power of his leg, he will be in great amounts of pain whenever he puts too much weight on it or when it gets hit during combat or while running away.
Another fault is his lack of courage in and outside of battles. Often, he does not take any risks and chooses the most safe and careful way there is. Because of that, he also tries to stay out of any argument and barely shares his thoughts and opinions on situations, fearing that his input might lead to fighting or complications.
Equipment: Very soon after breaking his leg and traveling around at a much smaller pace, he had learned that he would need something to hide his injury from other ponies or wild animals to not seem like easy prey to any of them. Because of that, he aquired a heavy, black cloak with a hood which grew very close to him over the passing years. Whenever it tore apart or got damaged in any way, he tried to find somepony to fix it for him and to restore its former beauty. He also added a lot of different pouches on the inside, which he mostly fills with bits, ropes and knifes. Special things that he carries with him would be 4 glass vials which he fills with different non-lethal poisons whenever he has the chance to . The last thing would be the two strips of leather, one of them on each foreleg. On these straps he carries several little knifes and darts, both of which he uses to defend himself.
History: Most of Tarascha's early life had been rather eventless. He was born into a unicorn family as an earth pony, possibly due to his mothers side of the family which was known to bring up just about any kind of pony. Being an earth pony in a unicorn family did cause some awkward or rather disappointing moments but it wasnt too hard for him. While not being a part of the nobility in Canterlot, his family still had enough money to spend to be living like some of the lower nobels, thanks to his fathers buisness.
As a result, Tarascha learned a lot of things about how to act or look when dealing with the high and mighty ponies of the Canterlot nobility. But as mentioned before, he had a rather unexciting foalhood. In school he was just as liked and disliked as the next best pony and spend his time with other colts and fillies who shared his interests. Mostly involving books or play fighting a scene out of a book.
The day he got his cutie mark was a confusing one for him though. He had always thought he would pick up his fathers buisness one day and never even considered that his cutie mark might be connected to anything else. The moment he looked at his flank and saw the black mark, he rushed home in panic suddenly very distressed as all his thoughts about the future seemed impossible now. And probably because he had no idea what his cutie mark even was. Once he got home and his mother explained to him what the black mark, a Rorschach test was, he began to calm down and think about it. From what he understood at that time, psychiatrist were ponies that helped other ponies when they had problems with their heads. Even though he really didnt know what that would mean, he was still happy to know that he will be able to help other ponies once he grew up. And it made sense to him too. Tarascha had always been the one pony to which his friends would come when they had problems or needed somepony to talk to.
With this newfound way for the future, his life continued as it had before. He graduated school with above average grades and quickly found a spot at a university in Canterlot, where he could study to become a certified psychiatrist soon. Near the end of his first year at university though, he found himself under a lot of pressure. Studying for the final tests was not going well at all, his family tried to involve him in a feud they had against some of the lower Canterlot nobles and one of his friends had become ill, causing Tara to worry about that as well. One day something snapped in his mind and he disappeared in the middle of the night, grabbing his saddlebags, a few bits and some books. The only thing he left behind was a note, explaining that he had gone on an "extended vacation" around Equestria.
He knew that running from the problems wouldn't make them go away but he didn't care at that point. That was the moment he began traveling Equestria for the first time. Tarascha had close to no knowledge at all on how to live outside of the city walls. After about a week he was on his way back to Canterlot already. He missed his warm bed, the good food and his friends that he had left behind. There was one thing though that made him change his mind about returning, or rather one pony.
She was a unicorn and a member of a traveling group that performed stage plays in various cities and towns. Tara had attended the play and shortly after began to talk to her. During that talk, it became clear that she was about to travel around Equestria on her own too and as soon as she offered him to join her at least for a little bit, Tarascha accepted almost immediatly. There just was something strangely intruiging and mysterious about that mare. And also no denying that he was falling for her right from the start.
From that moment on, the two were practically glued together and traveled all over Equestria. From the hot and dry south over to the east coast with its beautiful cities of Baltimare, Filly Delphia and Manehatten, right across the whole land to the west coast, staying in Las Pegasus and Vanhoover for a few days. The last weeks of their travels, they spend in the freezing north. And that is also where Tarascha's first round of traveling ended.
She had convinced him to stop running from all the problems back home and build up some of his confidence. When he asked if she wanted to come with him though, she gently refused and went on with her traveling alone.
After that, he finally returned to Canterlot, met up with his family and tried to continue his studies. But there were a lot of days where he thought about leaving again. A normal life seemed so little and unpromising to him after what he had seen. But he forced himself back into studying and dealing with his everyday problems everytime.
That was, of course, only until the war started. As soon as he heard the first news about it, he did what he always did when there were problems that were too big to solve for him. He ran away. This time he gave his family and friends a quick personal goodbye though before setting off into the wild once more.
During the 5 years: In the following 5 years Tarascha traveled all over the continent, trotting from city to city, visiting towns, settlements and camps on the way while always trying to stay out of trouble and find the most interesting places or ponies around Equestria.
A few moments stood out from these 5 years though. The first one would be his battle with a pack of thieves just a few months after starting the journey. It was more of an escape though. While running away, he was forced to leap of off a bridge and plunged into a raging river. After nearly drowning and forcing himself to shore, a zebra shaman found him unconcious and bleeding. The shaman tried his best to heal Tarascha but wasnt quite able to repair all the damage the jump had done to his leg. From that day on he had to continue with one slightly crooked leg and a few more scars all over his body, thanks to the attacking thieves.
After that, he lived together with the shaman that saved him for a while, learning many things about the culture of the zebras, their crafts and their language. He went as far as calling himself an apprentice of the other equine for a long time and proved himself worthy of shamanhood. While he actually never completed all the rituals and vows he had to do, he still knew enough to believe in the shaman ways with spirits to guide him. From the shaman, he had gathered knowledge of herablism and alchemy, how to move and survive in the wild and how to communicate with the spritis and beings all around himself.
The next moment would be the time he realised he was actually starting to raise some attention by carrying items or messages across Equestria for other ponies. While visiting the big cities, more and more ponies came to him and asked him for the newest information about the other cities or towns while even more came and asked if he could deliver packages for them to relatives, lovers or buisness partners. Even though he never had anything planned like that, he decided to go with it and earn some bits on the side by doing that.
