Astonished by his skilled effort in successfully finding her, The Queen's smile widened in glee. Intelligent he was for a pony. Realizing this, Chrysalis knew she had to use his potential and everything that went with it for good. In the wrong hooves, his powers could ruin everything she set out to do. She had to make him the happiest student in all of Equestria.
"Percy, you've done wonderfully. Well done! You must explain this spell further to me. Locating me using a spell that can sense aura's? Positively genius. I must know how this was accomplished. Your studies will only advance as you succeed in each category. I am well impressed already. While actually changing your body will be the last step to the casting spells I'll be teaching you, in time you will get there. First, is voice recognition. Changing ones voice can be troublesome for beginners. However get this right first, and no pony will blink an eye. For, you cannot fully master the transformation without this very crucial step. Let us try. Give me the most high pitch vocal wording you have in you while not screaming out loud."

[Enter Astral from Vaan's Nest]
Astral followed Vaan, his memory of Canterlot failing him. Sure, he knew of a few places to eat, but that was before the war. Whether or not those places were open, Astral hadn't a clue. He looked around as they walked, trying to find somewhere to eat.

Vaan soon had to accept that he had no idea where to go. He'd thought Canterlot would be easy to manage, but such a huge city proved to be more difficult than a small griffon village. One would think that in such a huge town, food vendors would be everywhere, trying to sell their products to anypony would lend them an ear and had a couple of bits to spare. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case here. Well, not that Vaan could tell. Though, this emptiness did give him an idea bout opening his own place. With all these hungry creature, he'd make a killing cooking and preparing hot food.
"Alright, Astral, I not gonna lie to you...yet. I have no idea where I'm going or where I am," Vaan said, Rubbing the back of his neck. He saw a pony walk by with her bits on her side. Instinctively, he wanted to use his tale to slyly take it away, but decided not to...after much debate.

Percy's grin never faltered as his face reddened slightly from the praise the Queen was bestowing him. He made mental notes to show her how he did his aura reading. He paid close attention as she explained a little about how his lessons would go and to her instructions for his current lesson. He nodded in affirmation once she finished asking for his highest voice. He assumed she meant without the use of magic, so he cleared and massaged his throat as he worked it into his highest falsetto. Using the proper amount of air support to speak in a normal tone, he said only three words.
"How is this?" His words sounded like a very high, though slightly strained, mare version of his normal voice.

"That was.. a good start. Perhaps we need to work on impressions through practice."
Unable to hide the clear laughter in her voice, the Queen in disguise found herself quite amused at his attempted effort. While she knew getting an actual pony to do this would be hard, if her halfling daughter could learn it, so could he. With practice as a must, the magenta average looking mare had brushed back her light pink mane with a hoof to her head. Flapping her new feathery wings and rising slowly into the air, purple orbs blinked with a smile.
"Well well, lets see if my subjects know how to handle a little 'test'. Come Percy."
Flying close to the ground for her student to see, the fake pegasus had slowly begun to approach the two just entering the other side of the street. Moving towards the dark colored stallion seemingly too shy for his own good, the Queen in disguise offered a small smile before landing in front of Astral himself. With a sweet timid voice coming off as innocent, she pulled off her skills with little to no effort.
"Excuse me? I couldn't help but overhear. Are you guys in need of directions?"

Percy frowned slightly as he realized that learning this was going to be harder than he had originally thought. And also from the laughter he could see her suppressing. He was about to ask how he could do better, when she lifted into the air slightly, her eyes showing that she had spotted something. He looked in the same direction, trying to see what had gotten her attention, but was able to see little from his vantage point. He followed her as she made her way to a dark coloured pegasus stallion, looking not at all comfortable, and a gryphon. He stopped and stood next to her as she addressed them.

Astral's memory came to him as Vaan admitted to being lost. "I.. Think I remember the way to the market place. Might take me a couple tries, but I'm fairly.." Astral's words trailed off as the mare approached them.
His instincts kicked in for a moment, as he began to take a step back. He quickly scanned over the mare, sizing her up. She seemed fairly average, and she could definitely fly. If something were to go down, he could always just use his cloak. Taking solace in this fact, Astral relaxed again.
Listening to the mare's words, Astral blinked. "Well, yeah.. We're looking for a place to eat. Do you know any good places? If not, that's fine.." He said timidly, very obviously uncomfortable in the situation

Vaan, being cautious, took a small step back. From his experience, ponies never so kindly walked up to him. They usually kept walking, ignoring his form. He supposed talons, a sharp beak, and other predatory parts didn't help his case much, yet this mare approached him. It possibly streamed from Astral being next to him and adding some trust to his appearance. Either way, he kept his guard up.
"Yeah, like my buddy here said, we're looking for a place to grab a bite, "Vaan repeated, looking towards the other stallion, "It's been...a long day. Want to end it on a good note."

Signalling Percy with nothing but a mental connection due to his bracelet, the Queen spoke through to him alone. 'Do not give away your real name. To learn how to be a changeling, you must first learn how to act.' Pondering the food options in town since the war, it would appear to her that she herself wasn't as tuned towards whats going on in the city itself. Needing to please her subjects without allowing herself to show her true form, the colorful mare nodded.
"You're right. The market place has many fruits and vegetables for sale. It's recently been redone too. However if you want to eat in somewhere.. uhm.. theres the Sali's Cuisine, JP's italian pizzeria, and if your in with the Queen, the palace dining room. I heard they serve 40 different options! For ponies and uhm.. creatures alike."

Astral listened to the mare speak. Upon the mention of the huge amount of good options available at the palace dining room, Astral's stomach growled quite loudly. It had been forever since he had really gotten a choice as to what he wanted to eat. For the past few years, there really was no choice. But just hearing about all these choices made him even hungrier.
Astral nodded and looked over to Vaan. "We could got to the dining room.. That sounds good."

Honestly, Vaan had no clue where these eateries that the friendly mare was telling him about were located, making him feel smaller and slightly anxious in the capital city and the unnatural situation he found himself in. Fortunately, once the palace-a place he knew- was mentioned, his spirits rose again, along with his hunger. The high amount of options offered grabbed his attention almost as much as the allure of coin did. Though, he could go without eating if the amount paid was high enough.
Once he heard Astral suggest the magical place, Vaan shifted his gaze away from the pony pair and towards his group member and spoke, "Yep, sounds like a plan. You know, I probably won't be able to fly when we're finished; you might have to carry me."
(Sorry guys. My bad for taking so long)

Giggling to the griffions sense of humor, the colorful short mare had nodded in agreement. Confirming their decision and planning things out as they went by, the Queen in disguise was actually having fun? While testing her subjects on loyalty always seemed like a fun experiment, she knew these ponies were unquestionable on the matter. They were her subjects, and in time, maybe just maybe.. even her friends? Not used to such a word, perhaps the dilemma of friendship as magic was getting to her more so then assumed.
"I'm glad I could help. You guys aren't runaways.. right? I don't think you'd be welcome there if you didn't enjoy the Queens ruling after all. Although I did hear she's giving away amazing rewards to those who bring her such creatures."
Placing a hoof to her chin in a mock thought process, the mare winked at them both with a clear sense of shrude humor. While personally knowing they were on her side, their deepened information could form to be most useful upon discovery.

Astral let out a small, nervous chuckle at Vaan's joke. Just the mention of flight made him uncomfortable, because of his lack of ability to do so. He quickly hid his nervousness, only to have it return with the mare's words. "R-runaways..?" He asked cautiously.

Percy had just sat back and watched as the Queen had her fun, nodding along with her suggestions, until he noticed the pegasus' reaction to her comment. He saw that it was fear, not of getting caught, but of actually being accused as such. With his smile still on his face, he came up beside Chrysalis and gently bumped her shoulder to get her attention. Once he had it, he spoke with a slightly accusing tone, hoping she would forgive him later, "Now, my dear, you shouldn't joke about such things. You're making the lad terribly uncomfortable."
He cautiously approached the pegasus and wore his most comforting smile, "You'll have to excuse my companion. Her sense of humour is a bit of an acquired taste at times. She really meant no offence."

The question didn't sit right with Vaan. Here he thought the mare was simply being friendly, yet her question made him rethink is stance. Perhaps she was a worker for the Queen, sent to simply gather information or catch criminals. The griffon wasn't sure and part of him wanted to point his weapon towards the two ponies and figure things out. Yet, he remembered the last creature he was with that tried to harm the Queen; he didn't last long, so pointing a weapon at someone who worked for her wouldn't be too smart either.
"Oh...she made my heart jump..." Vaan spoke. He let out a small, practiced chuckle before tapping his claw on his cheek in a questioning manner, "But let's say we were runaways... who-for example- been running around this country doing odd jobs to earn enough bits to escape back to their home country only to find out things aren't as easy as it seems. This is all hypothetical of course."

Accepting his nudge as simply being in character, the Queen in disguise humored herself with the events that followed. Knowing the average pony dare not talk of such things, bringing it up had made things all the more interesting in her eyes. Knowing there was no way to prove she was who she was if they so guessed, the mare tried to laugh it off as she waved a hoof at their presence.
"You guys are funny. I was only having a bit of fun hun. I'm sorry. You see, creatures around here can take things abit too seriously. I try to make them smile from time to time."
Not quite wrong in her statement, the Queen enjoyed this game rather well. Wondering why these simple creatures were entertaining her more so then the theater's that await, she dared question her morals. Starting to gesture herself walking in the opposite direction as them, a simple point of her eyes was all she needed to signal her student to her side.
"I hope you guys find the food your looking for in the palace. I'm sure it'll be yummy!"

Astral chuckled nervously once more and chose to say no words, just to be totally safe. Upon the mention of the food again, his stomach growled very loudly. It had been too long since he had ate an actual meal, nonetheless one like what was available at the palace. He shuffled his hooves slightly and waited either for Vaan to lead the way or something else to happen

Percy saw Chrysalis' cue and joined her at her side. Once he was standing next to her, he heard the pegasus' stomach growl. He giggled and pointed to the castle, while addressing the gryphon, "You may want to get to the castle before your friend collapses from hunger. I hope you enjoy your lunch."

"I understand completely," Vaan said, agreeing with the mare. Even though she was suspicious, she was right. Creatures do tend to take things seriously.( Like when you take their bits. They just need to stay calm.) When Vaan noticed the hunger from Astral, he spoke again," I suppose you're right. I don't want to be the one carrying him around."
The griffon smirked before looking towards the sky to locate the castle; once he did, he flapped his wings to raise himself above the ground. Ready for his food, Vaan turned to Astral with a look that spoke of their reward.
"Alright, I suppose we will see you around..." Vaan spoke, realizing he never caught these ponies' names, "By the way, name's Vaan. And this is my friend Astral."

Turning back towards the two citizens with a smile, the Queen in disguise had merely chuckled at Astral's stomach remark. With the way things were going, she was going to be lucky to spend another hour with the ponies of today. Not sensing a single troublesome doubt from these two, Chrysalis could be sure all was as it should be. Knowing Percy was more anxious then ever to learn a new spell, her student would learn a thing or two from simple commoner talk.
"Names Purple Rain, this here is my friend Ink Well. Nice meeting you two!"
'Ink well? I must pick up a book on pony names and the history behind it' Speaking mentally to herself, the Queen turned once more. Trotting away without a care in the world, she could only assume her student would follow suit. Looking more worn down then she should have, Chrysalis turned the corner before transforming back into her true form.
"Could it be?"

Remembering what she had said into his mind about not giving his real name, he nodded along as the Queen introduced themselves with the false names. The use of a false name irked him a little, something he hid well. He didn't like to lie, but when he thought about it, his new role as a student of Changeling magic would twist that over time, as the premise of the entire art was stealth and subterfuge.
He followed as the left the two to find their lunch and was a little confused by her question and from seeing that she looked tired, "Are you okay, your majesty? And could what be?"

Astral offered a meager smile and a small wave to the two as they wandered away. Turning to face Vaan, he sighed slightly. "Guess it's time we for lunch?" He said, taking note of Vaan's current hovering. Hopefully he wasn't planning on them both flying to the palace, or else Astral would be a bit of a let-down..

Vaan offered a wave as the other two ponies left. He still had some suspicion about them, but since he wasn't in the dungeon he let the feeling leave. Plus, he doubted he would ever see them again;there was no need to dwell on them.
Turning to Astral, Vaan spoke, "Yep, let's go to lunch. I say we used enough time getting familiar with the locals. "
He went to flap his wings to get their destination quickly, but noticed Astral wasn't using his. Confused, Vaan stopped his action and lazily flapped towards the castle.

Shifting her pupils towards his direction, a low growl had escaped her lips in frustration. Deepened and raspier as her fangs barred in defense, the royal mare had started to lose herself. Snapping at him with little reason, Chrysalis wasn't quite herself. Or atleast, the self she portrayed.
"Ofcourse I'm okay you worthl-"
Holding a hoof to her head and stopping herself from making a mistake, being good was tearing her a part. Calming herself down and whispering to herself in a native tongue, the Queen turned back to him with a more peaceful and reformed approach.
"I apologize. I must admit, I am feeling rather ill. Let us continue in a more peaceful environment. Perhaps more book time is needed."

Percy cowered away from the Queen's fierce display, lowering to the ground and bowing his head, hoping things would be okay. When she stopped yelling and started speaking softer, he looked up at her and nodded in agreement to her suggestions.
"Shall we head back to the castle then, your Majesty?"

"Perhaps it is best. Percy, would you be a dear and deliver a letter for me? I believe its time for an old friend of mine to meet you as well. Would you be interested? It would require a bit of your time."
Hoping he'd accept, the Queen's magical aura had magically conjured up a paper and quill. Writing down her thoughts on his previous letter, Chrysalis yearned to keep the peace with the engineer as long as possible. Knowing he enjoys money, its always nice to have the upper hoof when bribery comes along. Moia would be most pleased. Folding it up and awaiting a response from Percy, the Queen knew she'd have to face her rage sooner or later. Noting a trip to see the King would suffice, a smirk was all she wrote on her humored and intricate facial expression.

Blinking in surprise at the sudden request, Percy smiled and nodded his head, "Of course, Your Majesty. Whatever you require."
He was curious who this 'old friend' could be. He took the letter from magical grasp and changed it into an ear cuff that he attached to his left ear so he wouldn't lose it. Once it was secure he turned back to the Queen, "Where will I be going?"

"Thats my boy."
Smiling in satisfaction, the Queen had done something that would have startled many. Reaching her arm around to place it on his shoulder, green daring orbs stared eagerly into his own. She was trusting him with this letter, and if anything happened to it, her plans to get back someone that once respected her were soon to be in ruins. Nodding in a thankful manner, her hoof moved to caress his cheek.
"Its very important to me. Do not fail Percy. In Fillydephia, you will see a large tall and white building, towering over many others in the big city. Its called E.G.O.E.S Innovation Centre. You will give this letter to a pony named Moia. I believe in you, consider this a test." And with a quick flare of her large curved horn, the Queen of Equestria was gone.

Percy was slightly startled yet overjoyed by the Queen's affectionate actions towards him, but he quickly recovered listening intently to her instructions. He nodded in affirmation, assuring her that he would treat the letter with the greatest of care. When she teleported away, he gave himself a moment to recover, touching the letter-turned ear cuff attached to his ear, before standing tall with pride and making his way down the street to the train station.
