Aegis got up and stretched his aching body. The bruises weren't enough to trouble the doctor over. Aegis was sure Moon had more important ponies to attend to. Besides, he'd be okay tomorrow.
Hearing Forte out, Aegis looked between them. "You were sure of yourself when you left, Forte. Why doubt yourself and the mission to get Moxie's paints back?" He asked, cracking his neck and wincing. Maybe he should see the doctor after all.

Moxie folded her wings to her back as she considered Forte's question seriously. She was tired of being pushed around by her father and his constant belief he always knew the right answer for her. Her spar with Aegis had made her feel strong, more confident, more like her own pony that could take care of herself.
She picked her next words carefully. "What if.... Genessee isn't right about keeping them from me. What if.... what if I know what's best to do with them? I just feel like of any pony... I've seen what they can do. Wouldn't I be the best pony to delegate what they are used for?... WHEN they are used?..." She was silent for a moment before she looked to Aegis and Forte with a bit of doubt behind her eyes, "Do you two trust me to make the right call with my magic paint?"
A clatter echoed down the hallway suddenly, and the faint ruckus of running hooves and yelling began to filter through to them. It was hard to make out what the noise was at first to the ponies in the training hollow, but slowly it may come to them.

Forte listened to Moxie, nodding as she spoke. "You know I trust you, Moxie. You are right in this, and I've never doubted you for a second. The only reason I ask is because I made a promise." He said, being intentionally vague. "If this is what you want to do, I will see it through to the end."
Forte was interrupted by the clattering from the hallway. He turned and looked towards the entrance, tilting his head curiously. "I wonder what's going on... Perhaps we should go and help?"

Aegis looked to Moxie with a soft, encouraging smile. "Moxie, I've been here a long time, seen things get more and more tense. Your father is a good pony, but those paints aren't his to command. It's like telling me there are certain times of the day I can move or think. I trust you with my life, Moxie."

"And I trust you both just as much. You are far too good of friends to me." Giving them both an appreciative smile, Moxie's ears perked as shouts began to echo more harshly through the tunnels. They were muffled enough that it was nearly impossible to hear what was said, but Deut's name seemed to be mentioned in it. Worried now for her friend, Moxie looked at the two stallions and nodded, beginning to move to trot towards the exit of the barracks. Part of her wanted to ask Forte what promise he was referring to... but it seemed not to be the time right now. "Let's go see what's going on, and then after, we can figure out what to do if you want to help me. It will probably be best to leave for a night time job anyways."

"Of course." Forte said, nodding. His left wing shifted, making sure Tempest was still in place. He had a strange feeling that whatever this was, it wouldn't be good. He took off at a brisk trot towards the entrance to the training hollow, sure that the others were behind him. As they moved, he took a moment to be thankful that Moxie and Aegis didn't asked about the details of the promise. He knew that the truth would come out sooner or later, he was not looking forward to Moxie's reaction when she learned he had snuck into Genesee's office. Or when she learned that Moon had caught him, and that it was only due to Moon's good heart that he was still in the camp.

Aegis smiled at Moxie and Forte, chuckling despite the bruises covering his body. "It's what I'm here for, Moxie. Everypony needs a friend who's got their back, and right now, you've got two." He looked to Forte next, his expression indicating that Aegis extended the same sentiment to him. But the shouting was starting to worry Aegis. He forced back the pain from the bruises, thankful that he still had the skill to ignore pain until his body gave out on him, because he didn't want to be sidelined if this turned out to be an emergency.
Following Moxie and Forte, he figured he should give out a request now while they had the chance. "So, guys, if things go really bad and I black out after dealing with things, just put me to bed instead of the medical grotto. It's nothing serious if I wake up within around three or so days, depending on how things go. It's really not worth me taking up a bed for nothing more than a little rest."

Aegis' comment of what to do with him unnerved her. As she quickly made her way towards the exit after Forte, she flashed the stallion a look of pure concern. "Aegis, if you are hurt you are going to see a medical pony! Your health is just as important as any other camp pony, and what kind of friend would I bet if I just dropped you off in your bunk? A terrible one, that's what!"
She gave him a chuckle and shook his head at his silly self-sacrificing personality. Sometimes she believed Aegis thought more about his demise for others than any pony on earth. She deeply admired his valor, but he'd not allow himself to suffer under her watch for such a silly reason as to not want to take up a medical bed!
"Besides, this could just be nothing but a noisy food fight..."

Forte listened to the ponies behind him, nodding along with Moxie. He didn't answer, though, instead focusing on the sounds from the halls. The closer they got, the more uneasy he felt about them.

Aegis nodded and followed out. He was hoping all he had to do was yell at ponies for being stupid and wasting food.
