Battling! Rules & Regulations!
Picture the scene, its a cold rainy night in Canterlot, and your character and others are running away from a creature aiming for blood. What do you do? Trapping you and your friends in an enclosed place, fighting might be your only option if a pony on your team can fight that is. So that's it, your hearts pumping, your adrenaline's on the rise, and you throw a punch. Who's to decide if it hits? These steps should give you a better understanding of fighting and learning how to take a hit in this battle over Equestria.
Step One: Remember your wording. VERY important. Never assume your hit is going to land, but better yet, use words to describe what would happen if it did. Try using the words: "Attempting to throw a double punch to the ribs, her body moves fast in reflex, mentally preparing her next move." By this, you are insinuating that your character went for the attack, whether it hit or not depends on the other player. How is this fair? Rule of trust. Reading the character Tier will greatly show you who you would be better off fighting against. If you try to punch King Sombra by yourself, you're obviously going to be thrown to the wall with no chance at winning. Keep this tier as a reference guide, but remember, together, anything IS possible.
Step Two: Chance. If you're the player getting hit, you obviously never really want your character to get hit, but take it to chance. If the character attacking you is around or even a little lower then yours in power, there will be times you get hit. Fair is fair, meaning you must know how the other players feel about trying to attack and never getting a chance. If you're not sure, flip a coin. Be respectful. TAKE a hit. Your moving, their moving, mistakes happen. NO character is perfect, and with each flaw one has, another WILL take advantage of it naturally.
Step Three: Magic. Oh? So you're a unicorn and you want to fire 50 shots out at enemies, teleport everyone to safety, and still use that horn to knock out a 100 enemies from behind you? HA. You will be laughed at. Remember, magic isn't forever, nor is it a cop out. Magic takes energy, energy takes willpower, and willpower takes mental and physical strength. Bottom line, using powers WILL make your character exhausted. Little by little, but again, it adds up.
Lets get one thing straight however, No one is allowed to heal themselves completely with magic. Unicorns, Pegasai, and Earth ponies, all are equal in the fighting world. So, you shoot a blast at an earth pony, guess what? Their bodies are more likely to take more damage then other races, so bruises and getting hurt is expected, but not losing limbs. Again, You are not allowed to say what hits a character, only say, Attempting or trying to, goes to, Went to, or even hoping it hits etc. You guys are smart, You'll figure this out and be adults about it. So lets say you have been preparing an attack from the beginning and when you finally use it, the blast destroys most of the forest, you can obviously assume that your enemy is hit SOMEHOW. If they still avoid it or if you are having a hard time hitting someone in general due to their *Dodging* - get a Moderator or Admin. DO NOT fight about it with each other, we do not wish to have drama here and you may end up in just as much trouble for fighting as they are. And remember, the day must end eventually. If you have been using magic all day, it has to run out in time. Please remember, you will be confronted if we see this and you're still at full strength.
Step Four: Flying and Dodging. Please, be respectful. Do onto others, as they do onto you. If their taking hits and still fighting back, that means you need to learn how to take hits too. Remember the Tier chart and eventually, one has to lose. That's okay, it's not the end of the world. So you don't want to get captured? Things happen, you have to accept that and you shouldn't have been fighting that opponent that long if you didn't wish to take chances. Have a pegasus? Great at flying and dodging? its convenient, it is. But remember, something has to hit. You're not faster than light nor are you a mind reader, your opponent can outsmart you. That doesn't mean they are better, it means the situation won in their favor, but next time it could be you. For you dodgers out there in any race, you're not going to dodge forever. Moving that fast causes energy and obviously causes wear and tear on the body, so think before you post. Again, if you notice this in another player, report it and let us handle it.
Step Five: Getting free in a trapped situation. Can it happen? Sure! Is it easy? NO, absolutely not. You better have friends and a lot of experience breaking and running away. If you're trapped, the player in charge that trapped you is in charge. Obviously the same chance rules apply for this scene as well. Give and take. And remember guys, its a roleplay, it's suppose to be fun. So please, have FUN. And always look back to this and the chart for guidance if you feel ever lost.
Step Six: Post at the bottom saying that you have read and agree to the rules and regulations so that I know you have read this ALL. YOU must read and sign before role playing on the forum can begin. Thank you all!
I, Plush Ramen, Agree to the rules and regulations!
